Notes - This FAQ pertains only to Board Fighters. Series II may or may not pertain to series I, but series II must start anew, requesting character profiles from those one the board. Whoever takes charge of series II may not simply take the characters from series I and go at it from there.

BF Status (v2.0) - Decided to add a little section as to how I think Board Fighters is doing so far =D Its going quite well IMO, as the path of the plot looks clear, and the writing has been great. Everyone involved has made an appearance, whether large or small, each part is vital. To the newcomers, you're turns are fast approaching, much luck to all of you.

v 2.5 - Kaze attempts to clear up the plot!

v 2.0 - Added new questions which Gouki asked a while back. Some of them have their own section (cuz I'm lazy =P) Also updated the Board Fighters Writers list, placing Ayame after Watcher (Sorry, sorry, just forgot her from the general list earlier). v 1.0 - Notices, the trading of Essences, and the current listing. Kaze and Iwa have decided to switch Essences, as originally they wanted the others, yet they never got to communicate. Minor plot holes due to this perhaps, but consider it as the fact that the Essences were never TRUELY revealed and the role of Kay and Iwa were merely mistakened. The other changes were made by Laughing Fox, which he has implemented into the storyline in the midst of chapter four.

1. This is from Kaze. Not here to rush your creativity or anything, but I am re-enacting the time limit to each of your turns. Two weeks, unless you hold a viable excuse, of which you will be granted a three day extension. This is very generous in my humble opinion and your chapters need not be so long or extravagant ^_^;;;. If you can get it in before the time limit, that would be lovely ^___^. But you have two weeks, without a valid excuse. >.< Oh yeah, this rule will only start after SD is finally done with his parts of chapter four. So no rush at that. But after that, no exceptions to the rule, not even Administration (even me ^_^). Everyone will have two weeks, if you feel you don't have time, we can place you after the person after you.

2. Board Fighters will begin its winding down at my chapter. But also should be noted that if Board Fighters does not end by my next turn, I will be the one to end it. Board Fighters is great, but a story can lose its charm if it holds no ending in sight. And I bet we've practically got something long enough to be a novel O.o Epilogues are allowed afterward by the respective creator of each character. You may (of course) branch off into other stories of your character if you wish, they are your characters after all ^_^ But, please, ask permission from other authors before you choose to use THEIR characters in your story, If they refuse, please respect that decision.

3. Finally, ask any questions about these decisions. I think they are pretty fair, but I will repeal them if you give a good reason with overwhelming support. So don't be afraid to say what you want. But please, keep the questions to the FAQ, and be nice with how you say things ^_^

1. LF has asked that writers try to put the main Street Fighter cast into the storyline more often, after all, this is supposed to be a street fighter fic as well. Just a request if you can.

2. Also requested to help you is the 'Rival Schools' format of fighting for the people. BF characters to team up with SF characters, this might help draw more people into the fighting. Not necessary to initiate at the moment, but WILL be initiated at a chapter somewhere along the way.
 

-=II. General Board Fighters Questions=-

1. What is "Board Fighters"?

It is a fun project group writing project that we're doing on the message board. Basically we each made up a character and we're writing them into a Street Fighting tournament. All the writers take turns writing and such.

2. Who are in charge of the "Board Fighters"?

The ones you're looking for are Laughing Fox (the mighty one who began this raging project), Pearl/Bean, Shockwave, and Kaze. These are the head honchos administrators of the "Board Fighters". (Note from Kaze: Dan part of the Administration now, now PB, Shockwave, and I can't call ourselves the BF Triumverate anymore ^_~V)

3. How do I join the "Board Fighters"?

The guys mentioned above just recently decided that at this time we already have too many characters to deal with. It is also difficult to work in a new character so far into the story. So as of this moment they're not accepting anymore applicants. There is a chance that in the future, when we wrap up Board Fighters we might start a new series though.

4. Are 'Instant Kill' techniques allowed?

People have given very good arguments for this to be allowed, after all, it IS only fanfiction, right? And Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu (aka Raging Demon) is Instant Kill. We were never cleared on this at first, but create your character on the premise that they would be street fighter or any other fighting game characters, I guess its easier to understand your character that way. This isn't Guilty Gear (another fighting game, but one which you can pull out an instant kill move immediately even in the beginning of the match, and win BOTH rounds), and Akuma's does not instantly kill you. We have plenty of respect for the writers' skills, but we don't like the thought that a character has the ability to pull off a technique that can kill someone in round one or something. Thus, I have made a decision. These 'instant kill' techniques are to be HIGHLY DAMAGING techniques that take a LONG TIME to POWER UP. Since I made this decision on my own, Laughing Fox (He's the big honcho) may repeal this, or any two of the BF Admin may combine and repeal this. (Yeesh, I'm starting to sound like a lawyer or something!)

5. What is the plot?

Hoo boy, despite having a linear storyline, most of us don't exactly KNOW what the plot is, newcomers especially. The general plot, created by Shockwave, is to have a dark god from this book known as Naar, plan to take over our world. Sounds kinda cliche, yet still pretty darn cool. One of the more prominent subplots however, is the gathering of the Nine Essences or Incarnations. Those Nine have already been pre-determined. They are . . .

Sub-plots are plenty, as each character would have a story of his or her own. But the two mentioned before are the more prominent ones that we have to take notice of.

6. Board Fighters isn't like most other multi-authored fanfics, is it? (i.e. Fantasy Wrestling leagues)

No, certainly not, for one thing, we have an ongoing linear plot which has an ending to it. Everyone knows what is generally going to happen, but the details remains unknown and depends on the writer. This still pertains to STREET FIGHTER however, as the background is that, and this messageboard is for street fighter fanfiction, despite Board Fighters characters being in the forefront most of the time. Board Fighters is a self-insert/new characters/round robin fanfic.

7. Seasons? Series?

Its confusing . . . but because of the growing amount of chapters, the Admin decided to split this into seasons. Its just separating the whole bit to make it easier for those (me ^_^) who can't count to twenty without taking off their shoes (kidding! kidding!). Sorry for the confusion to those who had been around earlier waiting for the next 'season,' its series now ~_~

9. When you're in BF, are you a BF Admin?

Nope, BF Admin is actually what we (LF, PB, Kaze, & Dan) call ourselves rather than calling ourselves "those guys in charge." Originally we had a fancier name, the "BF Triumverate," obviously we can't call ourselves that now (more than three people ya know). But its cool ^_^ Basically, when you're in BF, you're basically a writer (as are Admin).

10. How do you become a BF Admin?

Just in case someone should choose to ask this question. The original Bf Admin was formed when LF was leaving the scene for a while, the head honcho leaving it to a few trustworthy people (a lil braggin' never hurt anyone ^_~v). But BF will be winding down soon, so there really is no need for new Admin, heck, the only extra goodies we get as BF Admin are the neon sporks LF brings everyday. Our chief responsibility mainly has been to keep everything in order, make sure the story goes smoothly, and encourage everyone to be involved. Besides that, we're just part of the writing staff. So, no, we're not accepting anymore BF Admin (~*Kaze, "I think."*~)

11. Will the use of weapons be permitted in these matches? (By that I mean swords and other sharp weaponry)

Depends, but generally perhaps not. In the official matches of the tournament itself, weapons shouldn't have to be used. But in storyline matches, no problem, within reasonable limitations of course.
 

-=III. Nine Essences FAQ v 1.2=- (Written by Iwa)
 

1. What are they anyway? Some sort of entity?

They are souls inhabiting human bodies (The nine chosen fellas are hosts). Beings of pure power that are part of the very fabric of the universe. The nine fellas were chosen because of the fact their minds and bodies are deem compatible to host these souls

The jobs of these beings are to live the lives of their hosts, balance out the the power in this world. Watching and learning about this thing call humanity. In some sense of the word, they are an additional piece of soul to what is already in the host body.

_They_are_not_suppose_to_interfere_directly_ unless there is a need to.

During the time when they are watching, things can be either peaceful or chaotic depending on the destinies of the hosts. (Wonderfully we have Volpe on this. and when Volpe is around, things are not likely to be quiet and BF is what turns out. It's not a poke at you. You wrote it in your bios).

2. Are the hosts aware of this power within them?

They are aware of some kind of extra power they hold, yet they are unsure what to make of it. And to use it or not that's another question. (I sense a research coming up)

3. Are they aware of which Essence they represent?

Not at this point. Some may have an inkling since it looks obvious to them yet others remain unsure.

4.Assuming they represent good, are the entities lying dormant within the fighters until their time is needed to stop a threat to the Earth?

Good question.... there is no good or evil within the soul. Just how the hosts choose to lead their lives.

The souls are awake but had never openly interfere with the lives of their hosts. (Unless the situation is directly targeted at the Souls(namely somebody trying to extract the one within Iwa.) There will be an indirect reaction on the soul's part - offering the option to soup up Iwa's strength to get her out of there. (read bio or prologue)

5.When the entities are awake, do the fighters become more powerful?

Considering they are awake and watching, they try not to affect the fighters too much (the energy the souls contain is so pure and powerful, that it can destroy all if unleash in this world).

6. Can you extract the Essence?

YESH! But due to the nature of of the nine fellas (Ala Silver Surfer type of pure power). You really need a god to back you up or risk a Host sending someone beserk* (in Iwa's case)

So add one god, one containment rune, one host and incantation of your choice. The rune to contain the energy unleash. Energy so pure, so powerful that it can destroy all if unleash in this world. But u have to remember that they were chosen because they were compatible with the souls. The wrong person hosting the soul may suffer greatly.

Without the soul they might lose a bit of their powers or not all. Maybe one or two skills. Maybe unaffected, get a clearer head perhaps.

7. Do they want their extra soul back?

_If_they_ want_ it back. If the souls can't find the right body or if the host don't want them. Their powers grow destructive as long as they remain outside.
 

-=IV. Questions Concerning the Tag Format=-

1) What are the teams (if any have been established) gonna consist of?

It was decided a long while ago, I think (I lost the list though). But this format of fighting has yet to take hold. I think its because we've been getting more involved with the 'story' itself rather than the tournament, hopefully there will be tournament matches.
 

2) Will there be any single entries? And if so, who? (Aside from a possible Ryu and SD)

There are, SD certainly being one of them. But I have a question myself to those who believe that Ryu should be a solo entry, why? He's not that overly strong compared to everyone else, besides his Evil Ryu self and concerning storyline.
 

3) What will the format be? By that I mean the following...

The format is Rival Schools style. Two people, and team attacks are allowed.
 

4) Will team ups be permitted? And if so, what style? (Rival Schools, Crossover or MvC2?)

Rival Schools.
 

5) Will *all* the tag teams consist of a BFer linking up with a SFer? Or will there be exceptions?

Preferably BF and SF, just to get the SF characters more involved as they should. But there are certain exceptions formed by preference, like Locke and Memphis at times. (But that's not quite so possible at the moment).
