Iwa decides to organise this thing using
the earlier FAQ as a template of sorts. Ignore occasionally frustrated
and mildly insane Iwa screaming at her three mentors. Feel free to tranq
Iwa at anytime, do not attempt to whack Iwa on the upside of her head unless
you are one of her three mentors, Iwa will not be held accountable for
chewing off your arm. Ignore Iwa refering to self in third person.....
Board Fighters the original series has come to a close after 2 very high-energy seasons, and Board Fighters 2 is a new series of sort started by Ming (aka RyuDragon), the plot of which is in Part 3 of this FAQ
To know what and how Board Fighters first started refer to this here link for the entire first Board Fighter 1 Series. This FAQ so far is for Board Fighters 2 alone. To see a more up to date version of the FAQ head down to the Fanfic Board for the latest version
Currently three people are in charge of running Board Fighters 2

2. Writing rules:
1. Each writer has 3 weeks to write a chap. An extra week is given if that writer has a good excuse to be delayed. Otherwise, his/her turn is given to the next writer. The first chap will be posted on 17/02/2005 (Already done!!!!)
2. Remember spacing and tidiness in writing. Make it readable. New paragraph for different character's dialog.
3. If you don't understand about a certain character, ask the creator, you're allowed to get help.
4. If you need help, again, ask. Don't hesitate. Say, you're not sure what direction to go in plot-wise or are confused about something. Just ask.
5. A minimum of 30% of the chap has to have other chars than your own. So no spotlight hogging ^-^
6. Remember the point of this project is to also have fun, so you're not actually required to create a 20-pages chap, but hey, if you're willing to....
7. Another writer may want to include his/her piece in your chap, you can do so if you want, but it's your right to reject. Be firm and assertive. If you would like to include their piece in your chap, but what they wrote clashes with what you wrote, tell them the problem and ask them to fix it. Be sure to take your deadline into account.
8. Your char can't kill any SFers or BFers, or anyone else's char of any kind without expressed permission from the original's creator and admins.
9. You can't make other chars have crushes and/or fall in love with yours, without express permission. Your char can have a crush on whoever he/she darn well pleases, provided it does not interfere with the first line of this rule.
10. Maximum number of originals is 20 and SUBMISSIONS ARE NO LONGER BEING TAKEN. There is a waiting list in the case that some people drop out, however that is unlikely. Contact the admin of BF to inquire further.
11. SFers and the originals may be written in the same part of the chap as BFers (e.g. conversation between originals and SFers), or by themselves, its up to the current writer how he/she wants to incorporate SFers, but what’s important is that the SFers (other than the big bada** crime lord) also play important roles in the plot. The minimum ratio in plot is 40/60 for SFers/BFers.
12. As to decide which SFers to be involved (the role is more than being a cameo - meaning at the least is supporting character), SFers to be involved are to be chosen by writers. Currently we've got about 12 writers in the list, we can have each writer nominate up to 2 SFers, though the number of SFers (excluding extras and big baddies who are not in the tourney) is not to exceed the number of originals. For a list of those SFers already nominated, see the bottom of this post.
13. Writer who is not able to write is given a chance to re-schedule his/her turn twice providing his/her turn does not interfere with other’s turn. If that writer cannot give a very very very (you know what that means, peeps) good reason to admins or in special circumstances like John Heagy (hey, military life is one that quite unstable one, especially if you're in the front line), then he/she and his/her character are booted from the list.
14. Beta-reading: It's been decided (by all admins) that in effort to avoid diverting too far from the main plot, current turn writer is to give either the whole chap or summary (you decide) for review, plot wise and grammatical wise, to admins or a reviewing committee (any takers?).
The Writer MUST submit either the chapter or summary to at least THREE beta-readers, at least one of whom MUST be an admin. The writer must give the readers at least 24 hours to review his chap, and give him/herself enough time to make changes if needed. For instance, if your deadline is in 3 days, don't wait til the last minute to submit your piece/summary to the beta-readers.

15. Please put a summary at the end of your chap to state where characters are and what they are doing. It'll make it a lot easier for the next author to look up in case they forget. (thanks Cherie)
16. Probably one of the most important rules. No... and I mean absolutely NO... godmoding. No. None. Sorry. If you don't know what that is, review the following: Does your character win every fight they're in? Even if their stats (see profiles for stats) are outmatched by their opponent? Does your character always save the day? Are they immune to making mistakes? Could they fall into the "superhero/supervillain" category? Even though they're extremely new / young / inexperienced? Do they make things go their way no matter what?
If you answered yes to any of the above
questions, or heaven forbid, more than one, then chances are you've been
guilty of what we call godmoding. Or worse, your char could be what we
call a Gary Stu / Mary Sue. i.e. - a PERFECT character. No one is perfect.
EVERYONE makes mistakes, and often pay dearly for them. No, don't go all
angst-driven. Just keep it in mind that a character is more interesting
when they seem more human, and less godly. This doesn't mean they can't
be powerful in some way or have some great scenes. Just... no "OMG my char
is teh K3WL!!" please.
3. PLOT DETAILS / GENERAL INFO
Title: Board Fighters 2: Shadow of Power
Time set: Four years after the first story (see Board Fighters: seasons one and two in the archives) ends.
Villains: Bison (main villain), Gill (may play a role), Umbrella Pharmaceuticals, Iris industries (not necessarily a villainous organization, but they do have ties to Gill, which could potentially make them a threat).
For other bad guys, see that section of the Character Profiles.
Heroes: Many of the Street Fighters, and many original characters. Again, see Character Profiles.
Tournament sponsors [Official]: Umbrella Pharmaceuticals, Iris Industries, Masters' Corporation (Ken's company) and the Kanzuki Zaibatsu (Karin's family's business). The tournament participants will be staying at the Makai, a hotel owned by the Rinaldo family (Meliza's fam). This is also where most of the events will take place.
Main storyline: Due to the defeat he suffered at the end of the previous Board Fighters story, M. Bison's body is deteriorating, dying slowly. Naturally, he wants to prevent this, and for much of the time between the old story and the current one he has been searching for a way to restore himself to his former power, or even surpass it. Not to mention he still has his little black heart set on ruling the world somehow. He finds a way to possibly do both when he finds evidence in a scroll of an incredible, ancient power that can be obtained in a certain place and time... with the right keys.
With the power gathering in a pyramid in Egypt, Bison works to find the, the "keys" to unlocking it. He needs avatars of sorts to control each one, who are strong yet disposable to his whims. (For details on this part of the plotline, see the descriptions below) Needing to find suitable people, as well as needing to restore his former forces, he hires the genetic engineering skills of Umbrella Pharmaceuticals, in secret of course. Sponsoring the tournament to attract fighters, the company seeks out ideal test subjects for Bison, and perhaps for their own ends.
They will search for compatible test subjects throughout the various stages in the tournament, hoping to find people into whom they might inject enhancing supplements without adverse side effects, like oh, turning into a zombie for instance. And yes, Umbrella is still working with the T-virus and all that, but will also look for newer, better (and likely temporary) ways to enhance unwilling "soldiers" for Bison's cause.
Umbrella and Bison are the main threats,
but Gill may or may not play a small role in bothering the good guys as
well. With his newly acquired company, Iris Industries, Gill's intentions
to the public eye seem solely on generating revenue for his company via
sponsorship. Any other intentions he may have are, like Gill himself, shrouded
in mystery.
The Artifacts and all pertaining to such:
The power Bison hopes to gain is a universal power based in knowledge, yet extending to vast amounts of physical, even psychic power as well. Millennia ago, in various centuries, great artifacts of power were made in order to gain specific types of power. These things, varying in types and form, were each guarded by a particular kind of people indigenous to the area they were created in.
What drove the people to make them is unknown, but all were gathered and used only once. Seven were made altogether, spread in various places and continents of the world. The key was made separately, and kept in the most important part of the grand scheme, a pyramid in Egypt. Rather than being built as a tomb, the one pyramid was built instead as a place to obtain a power that would gather there during certain times of the centuries, according to the alignment of the stars. The power would always gather when it was scheduled to, but could only be truly unlocked with not only the key, but all the other artifacts. Each artifact had to be used by an avatar, a person of amazing ability and endurance who held at least one thing in common with the artifact they were chosen to represent.
The Seven were gathered and used only once,
and not for good. Massive catastrophe was barely avoided, and nearly all
avatars lost their lives as a result of whatever happened. Thus, each item
was returned to the continent from which it came, and secreted far from
the clutches of anyone who might seek to bring about the destructive power
that cost many lives before. The Key remained in Egypt, yet hidden in a
secret chamber away from the pyramid in which it had been used. Few know
this part of the legend, and fewer scrolls and items hint at the locations
of the artifacts.

6. Questions and Answers
1 Weapons and the extent of usage
Q: Are weapons allowed in the tournament, or are they required to fight barehanded? If they are permitted, then how far does this concession stretch? Hand grenades? Guns - pistols, or submachine guns? Bladed weapons? Since killing is officially against the rules
A: If you somehow miss rule 14 in Section 5
Regarding weapons and guns: Originals are
allowed to keep bladed weapons and firearms for general situations in the
fic, but for the tourney purpose, they can only use non-lethal weapon and
small bladed type weapon like dagger, jitte, claws, or knife and left the
rest of the weapons or firearms home or decorative use only (e.g. Iwa.).
