Name: Lilly Yin
Age: 17
Nationality: American (of Chinese blood)
-BACKGROUND STORYLINE-
Born in the U.S., Lillian is full blooded Chinese and the only child of her mild-mannered parents. She grew up in all respects as a normal teenager with an intense love for life, love and happiness. At an early age, Lilly took up an interest in the Street Fighters tournament when her parents introduced her to Chun Li, the father of whom had been their close friend. Chun Li, "the Strongest Woman in the World", instantly became Lilly's hero. Under her instruction, Lilly's penchant for "the Fight" was honed into genuine skill and a her unique mix of fighting styles. That marked the beginning of Lilly's quest to master chi. After a summer vacation with Li Jie in Hong Kong, she harnessed enough of her power to feed her curiosity for more as she continued to train. She has been playing the flute for as long as she has been practicing martial arts. Her music means a great deal to her, for she constantly uses it to set her own mind and heart at peace.
Her reason for joining the tournament is because she was diagnosed with Leukemia. She refused to spend the remaining 20 months she had left taking drugs and trapped in a hospital. Instead she wanted to live out the rest of her life to its fullest. Though devastated, her family agreed to her decision to join the tournament. Lilly lets very few others know about her ailments for she desires no pity.
She still manages to maintain a smiling exterior through it all, because she has always sealed away her pain, sorrow, fear and anger inside. She uses her flute and music to sustain that. Before battles, she plays the flute and reaches inside her soul to release some of the bottled up rage, anger and passion, because she needs these emotions to fuel her fighting spirit. After battles, she locks away those emotions again and slaps on a smile for the world. Her flute is the key to this transition each time. Should anything happen to it, she would probably completely lose control of her emotions.
So, refusing to look Death in the eye,
Lilly smiles behind his back. Her image to the world is still a light-hearted
teen bent on having fun and flirting with guys.
-CLOTHING / DESCRIPTION-
Asian in appearance. Black hair runs past her shoulders and she leaves it down during battle. With a slight and delicate frame she seems fragile at first impression, and her always smiling face gives her an innocent look. She always uses the element of surprise to her best advantage. She adapted Chun Li's original outfit to her own taste, making it sleeveless and altering it to light pink and silver instead of blue and gold. A pair of gray Nikes complete her ensemble. Her fighting style requires no fist punches and she doesn't wear any guards for her hands.
She brings her flute into battle with her.
She uses it to channel her chi in one of her special attacks, for blocking,
and also as tool to confuse her opponents. Her style of fighting is very
unpredictable in the fact that it's a combination of Taichi, Wushu, acrobatics,
and dance moves. Lilly is a fast learner and thus has a tendency to mimic
the some of her enemy's attacks in mid-match, as a result further adding
more diversity to her arsenal. Her chi attacks are all very Yin oriented.
(As in the female half of yinyang.) Later a rumor circulates around the
Street Fighter tournament that she might be the so called "Celestial Yin
Warrior." No one knew if there is really any truth to the statement, but
nethertheless it implied that there was a "Solar Yang Warrior" that is
the male partner. But Lilly becomes bent on finding this Warrior later.
Not only for the hope of finding true love, but also with the suspicion
that the Yang power might help bring balance to her body and restore her
to health.
-FIGHTING STYLE-
Signified by agility and speed. Definitely
very versatile in open spaces and in the air.
Her main strategy defense-wise is to dodge
and avoid physical attacks as much as possible. With a slight figure, she
is more vulnerable to physical collisions. And Leukemia makes her quick
to bleed but slow to heal. However, Lilly can withstand chi hits very well
because her body can either automatically neutralize some of the attack
with her Yin chi, or actually absorb most of the blast.
-SPECIAL MOVES-
Quick and agile, she managed to master
some of Chun Li's kick attacks, including the Rising Mountain Kick, Somersault
Kick, Spinning Bird Kick, and some of her own: the Propelled Sidewinder
and the Reversal Crest Kick. She was, however, unable to fully pick up
the Lightning Kick. Her hand strikes are either open-palmed or clawed.
Attack combo are pretty much emulated from Chun Li's style.
-SUPER COMBO MOVES-
Learned ones:
*Kikkoken- not as strong as Chun Li's but
travels farther.
*Creeping Sonic Wave- a revised version
of Guile's Sonic Boom where two silver energy waves zig-zag as they rip
through the air.
Self-developed ones (Yin chi based):
*Wayward Warp - A teleporting technique. She is unable to warp over too long a distance or time so as a result this move appears as a blur that phases in and out rapidly as she warps at at swift intervals.
*Yin Yue Shu (Silver Moon Strike) - The sky seems to turn into night, and the moon and stars appear. She charges forward into her opponent, seeming to draw power from the moon as a bright silvery field of chi spirals around her. With this energy whirling around her, she rams directly into her opponent.
*Xuan Feng Wu (Cyclone Waltz) - Charges up the chi around her then she spins forward in three rapid consecutive rotations to strike her opponent. This attack doesn't carry her over too great a distance and she's working on making it quad-rotation attack.
*Forlorn Soul - Basically she plays her flute and channels an aura of sadness on her opponent's heart. This disorients them and renders them vulnerable to a following attack.
*Nova Flare - This is an aerial attack
that has to be executed very quickly and requires sufficient amount of
energy and concentration. Lilly takes a small running head start before
leaping about 12 feet into the air where she quickly twists her body into
a rapid spin. All the time she is emitting pure Yin chi from all around
her. If execution is perfect, her spinning speed can go up to 30 miles
per hour in the 3.5 seconds she is in the air, and at that speed the air
currents spread the Yin chi out in a series of swift energy spirals that
are pretty much impossible to dodge or avoid.
-BASIC THROWS-
Throws are standard.
-TAUNT-
Wearing a smile, she twirls her flute with
one hand and uses the other to gesture for her opponent's approach.
-ATTITUDE & BEHAVIOUR-
However serious her goals, she maintains
a light-hearted exterior. As she considers herself a regular teenager,
she allows sufficient time for her school work, flute practice, dancing,
her beloved mother and father, friends and, of course, guys. Tending to
be outgoing and congenial most always, Lilly can befriend others quickly.
She proves herself an irrepressible flirt around guys her age.
-VICTORY POSES-
Against friends - Gives them a smile and a nod of respect then plays her flute.
Against Chun Li- Puts on a more serious face and bows
Against villians or people she dislikes - With one hand on her hip, she smirks before turning her back to them and playing on her flute.
Against others - Smiles then does a backflip while giving a cheer.
Draw - Crosses her arms and taps her foot,
but with a small smile.
-FIRST ROUND ANIMATIONS-
Before Battle: She is playing her flute with a silvery haze of chi around her. She stops playing and with a gesture her chi dissipates.
Against Chun Li - Gives a cheerful smile and bows with respect.
Against friends - Smiles and greets with a wave.
Against a cute guy - Spins elegantly around one time to give a full view of herself, then, facing him again, laughs with a "come hither" look.
Against humorous characters - Giggles and shakes her head.
Against villains or those she dislikes - One hand on hip, smirks and twirls her flute.
Against others - One hand on hip, looks
them over, then smiles.
-VICTORY QUOTES-
"What was that? Your best effort?"
*smile* "I'm crying on the inside."
"Thank you for giving me the priviledge
of having this honorable match."
"Maybe a song will make defeat sweeter
for you."
"Stop whining. It'll heal."
"Never wanna hear you say... I want it
thaaaaaaaaat way!" (I just couldn't help myself :)
"Come up against me, and you can kiss
your butt 'bye bye bye'!"
-POINT OF INTEREST-
There's a pun in her name: Yin in Chinese can be in the context of Yin Yang, or it can mean silver (a large part of her outfit and her chi attacks) and it can also mean music.
