Reminiscences of Love Prologue

Beads of perspiration slid down his forehead, creating a burning sensation in his green eyes. His sweaty brown hair was delicately framing his oval face. Many faces tormented his thoughts. Were they real? He didn't know. Nothing was real anymore…

"What is the subject's condition?" A hoarse, evil voice asked. Out of the corner of his eye, the young man saw a middle aged man with a white lab coat. He looked like a doctor of some sort. His head was slightly bald and his tense face was adorned with thick eyeglasses.

"His body has adapted to the Psycho Power, but he is strong and his memories have been erased only partially." The scientist trembled as he spoke. He was surely terrified of something or someone.

"Very well then. Continue with the process…" The other voice seemed so heartless, so cold it sent shivers down his spine. The young man closed his eyes, as if trying to shut out this newfound reality. His body had grown numb after the pain he had experienced earlier. What else was there to feel? He had surely lost everything, everything he lived for, everything he fought for. This wasn't supposed to happen. He knew someone must have betrayed him. Otherwise he wouldn't be going through this torture right now.

He opened his eyes again, his view changing somewhat. Sparkling blue eyes pierced straight into his own. Such an intense look, as if to sneak into his soul and destroy what was left of it. He stared back into those eyes, searching for a reason, an answer or for at least one sign of hope. He weakly focused a little more, noticing that those eyes belonged to a young girl, no older than seventeen. Her long blonde hair was held back in twin pigtails, complementing her innocent look. Her otherwise perfect face was scarred on her left cheek. She tilted her head to the right in what he mistook as a hint of compassion.

Another rush of raw energy invaded his body. He heard himself scream. The pain returned like a hundred daggers cutting his bare flesh at once. With each passing blow of power his mind came closer to darkness until he fell unconscious…the last thing he saw being that young girl that had captivated his heart so much…
