Your Adolescent Street Fighters Ch.7
By Silvercane
Friday after school
“OW!”, yelled Dan. “Glad to see you didn’t get rusty over the year”
“Can’t take me on anymore? Should have guessed”, Ken smirked.
“I’m better than you’ll ever be”
“Bring it on!”
Dan jumped into the air and thrust kicked at Ken’s mid-section as hard as he
could. Ken lay on the floor, not moving.
“Holy sh*t!”, Dan ran to Ken’s aid. He squatted over Ken’s limp body and
panicked.
“GOTCHA!”, Ken shouted and sprang up. Dan let out a yelp.
“You scream like my grandma”
“You are so dead!”
“Did you actually think that kick would hurt me? The king of fighters?”
“Shut-up”
Dan tightened the belt to his white gi and got into a stance.
“Hey, what are you guys doin’?” asked Guy who just walked into the school
gymnasium, sipping a chocolate milkshake.
“Just doing a little sparring”, answered Ken. “I’m waitin for Ryu. He said
he’d meet me after school. Dan’s pissed because he’s getting hurt”
“I was not!”
“Yes you were, admit it. Hey, it’s no shame because you were fighting me”
“Yaaaahhhhhh!”, Dan lept into the air and came soaring down on Ken with his
knee sticking out. Ken’s eyes widened.
“Whoa!”, Dan came down, kneeing Ken in the chest. Ken flew back into Guy and
Dan toppled onto them.
“Aw, gross!”
The three of them were in a pile on the floor, covered in chocolate milk.
“Now what do we do?” Asked Ken who was coughing and squeezing chocolate milk
from his gi. “Dan, this is all your fault!”
“You were the one taunting me!”
“Let’s wash our clothes, before it starts to stain my school uniform”, said
Guy who was shaking the milk from his hair.
“Where are we gonna do that? We’re in school”
“There’s a laundry mat in the basement for the students staying in the
dorms. But first, let’s go to our gym lockers so that we can at least change
into our gym clothes.”
Chun Li sat sideways, with both her legs hanging off one side of a chair in
the laundry mat. She opened a can of diet coke, took a sip and opened up a
fashion magazine. She checked on her laundry, which was dancing in the loud
machine. She was all alone in the laundry mat, all the other students went out
on Friday nights, nobody did laundry.
Elena, Pullum, and Cammy were up in Cammy and Chun Li’s dorm, crank-calling
other guys in the dorms. She looked up when she heard a bunch of familiar male
voices coming. Ken, Dan, and Guy walked in, wearing Glenmore gym uniforms. Ken
spotted Chun Li.
“Hey!”, he greeted.
“Hey!”, she greeted back. Then she smiled at the other two and looked back
down at her magazine. She pretended to read it but was actually listening in on
their conversation.
“We’ll use this machine”
“No, that one”
“What’s wrong with this one?”
“Fine…do you have any quarters?”
“Yeah, how many?
“I don’t know, I’ve never used one before”
“There, that should do it”
“Put the laundry in”
“Are you sure it’s okay to put in your red gi in with my white one?”
“Yeah, don’t worry”
“I’m not taking any chances, I’m putting my school uniform in a different
one”
“Dan, it’s okay, you can put your white gi with mine. Nothing will happen”
Then Chun Li heard the loud rumble of two machines starting.
“So, Chun Li…right? How do you like Glenmore so far?”, asked Dan.
She looked at him and shrugged. “It’s okay, so far”
“So where’d you live before you came to Seattle?”
“Well, before I came here I was living in Hong Kong.”
“Hey, I lived there for awhile.”
“Really?”
“Yeah”, and he walked over to the vending machine where Ken was getting a
soft drink and he put a coin in.
“Hey Chun Li!” Elena came bursting in through the door. “How long does it
take to do laundry? You’re missing out on a lot of fun” She saw the guys. “Hi!”
Then Ryu and a girl that Chun Li had never seen before walked in to the
laundry mat.
“Hey Ryu, what are you doing here?”
“I thought I could lose Sakura”, he mumbled.
“Ha, you can run, but you can’t hide. C’mon, I’m not that much of a pest” ,
said the girl named Sakura.
“Yeah”, said Ken sarcastically.
“Hi Dan! I didn’t even know you were here”, she said.
“Hey wait a minute”, interrupted Elena. “You were with that blonde girl last
time”
“You mean Karin”, asked Sakura. Then an oriental girl walked in with
bleached blond hair. The once empty laundry mat was filling up with people.
“Sakura, are you in here?” she asked.
“You’re the one that bumped into me last time”, said Elena.
“Yeah so what”
“So I heard what you said”
“I could give a rat’s *ss”
Elena gave her a sharp look. Karin smiled.
“What are you gonna do, huh?”
“You don’t want to know”
“Hey listen, I am a fighting champion, I could wipe the floor with you”
Elena smiled. “You’re on. Monday after school in the yard. See ya Chun Li”,
and she walked out. Karin looked at
Sakura and walked out too.
Everyone was silent for awhile. Then Sakura turned to Chun Li.
“I think you should tell your friend to call it off. Karin really does know
how to fight. Your friend might get hurt.”
“Don’t worry about Elena. She’ll be just fine”, said Chun Li, grinning.
One of the guys’ laundry machines stopped.
“Hey I’m gonna check on the laundry”, said Dan and he walked over. Sakura
followed Ryu, who sprinted out of the laundry mat hoping to lose her and Ken
was drinking his soda.
“Oh my God!…@#$%!…PINK…GI…MY…PINK…KEN…GI…MY…SH*T...PINK! MY GI IS PINK!”
“What?” Ken walked over. Dan lifted out a wet pink gi. He gave Ken a furious
look.
“I told you that we shouldn’t put them together! Now look!”
Chun Li couldn’t help but laugh. Guy was practically exploding with laughter
on the floor.
“Aw, it’s not that bad”, said Ken.
“It’s pink! I can”t wear a pink gi…and this is my only one! How about we
trade gis? This was your fault.”
“No way! I have worn this one forever. Besides…your’s is PINK!”
Dan chased Ken around the laundry room. Guy kept laughing.
