Your Adolescent Street Fighters Ch.6
By Silvercane

“Sakura, you’re so impatient…you’re embarrassing me”, Karin Kanzaki said snobbishly.

“I can’t help myself. I mean I practically changed schools for the guy!”

“Okay, I think that’s called stalking”

Sakura and Karin walked across the grassy yard. Their junior high school was a block away from Glenmore Academy. In case you didn’t know, Karin is as rich as Ken. She just had to ask once and her parents arranged for her to go to Seattle for school, on a private jet! The real reason she came was the unbearable daily begging that Sakura did. She would not be allowed to go to school in America, unless Karin was going. Sakura was on her hands and knees begging until her parents finally let her. Karin used to tag along with Sakura to go to Gouken’s dojo. She loved arguing with Ken. Both their families were long time rivals.

“C’mon”, Sakura was holding the door open.

“Yeah, comin’”, Karin was smiling at a couple of high school guys that were checking her out.

Karin started to climb the stone steps and bumped into someone, almost falling back..

“Hey, forgot your eyes!!”, yelled Karin. She looked up and saw a tall girl with dark skin and white hair. Elena.

“Sor-ry. Jesus Christ, it was just an accident, calm down”, said Elena annoyangly.

“Stupid b*tch”, Karin muttered under her breath.

Elena heard her. She spun around but Karin and Sakura had already disappeared into the building.

After School

“Hey Ryu, what’s up? You’ve been dazing off since lunch”, said Ken, searching Ryu’s face for an answer. They were walking down the central staircase.

“Nothing. Do you want to spar when we get home?” Ryu finally spoke.

“Yeah, okay”, Ken answered, knowing Ryu was fine, since he was talking about fighting.

Truth was, Ryu was still thinking about Chun Li. He didn’t know why, but he felt something for her, he felt protective of her. He also felt like beating the crap out of Vega when he saw him flirting with her. There was something about Vega that didn’t let Ryu trust him. There was definitely something about that girl, and Ryu didn’t know what. Suddenly,

Ryu’s thoughts were interrupted by…

“No! It can’t be”, said Ryu as he stopped in his tracks.

“Ha! I can’t believe she’s here!”, Ken said amusingly.

Sakura ran towards the guys when she saw them. She was wearing a Glenmore Junior High School uniform. She had a gigantic smile spread upon her face. Ryu sighed and tilted his head back.

“Hey Ryu! Guess you’re surprised to see me, huh? Hi Ken!”, Sakura managed to say through panting.

“Sakura, what are you doing here?” demanded Ryu.

“I was expecting Hi! or something”, Sakura said disappointingly. “Well, Karin’s parents made her come here for school and she asked me if I would like to come so she wouldn’t be so lonely. Here I am!”

“Kanzaki’s here too?!” asked Ken.

“In the flesh”, Karin said wickedly as she made her way towards them. “Hello Ryu”, she said sweetly.

“What’s with the bleached hair? Who are you supposed to be, Christina Aguilera?”, Ken said nastily.

“Who?”, asked Ryu confused.

Karin made a face at Ken.

“We didn’t even know that you guys were here until Shitoshe (farmer back in Japan taking care of dojo) told us. So, I decided to come see you , neighbor”, said Sakura.

“Stalking is more like it”, Ken said flatly.

Sakura ignored him and looked at Ryu, waiting for him to say something…anything.

“Sakura, you know my answer is still no. I can’t train you for I am still a student”, Ryu said.

“I know that”, Sakura muttered. “I told you, I’m just here for school”

“Anyways, Ryu and I have to get home”, Ken tugged on Ryu’s arm. “See you around”

Sakura and Karin stood there in the middle of the bustling school yard, watching Ken and Ryu exit the building.

“Well, that was a waste of breath”, Karin said.

“I’m not giving up”, Sakura told her.

“Yeah, so anyways, she was oriental with bleached blond hair! When she called me a stupid b*tch, I felt like drop-kicking her face!”, Elena said angrily. She and Chun Li were at the general office, waiting for the secretary to come back with Chun Li dorm papers.

“And you took that from a junior high schooler?”

“She already wondered into the building. I’m sure I’ll see her around. Her school is like a block away”

“Ah, here you go, dear”, said the sweet old secretary, carrying some papers and she handed them to Chun Li.

“Thank you”, Chun Li said politely. Elena and her started walking.

“Uh, excuse me”, the secretary called out to Elena. “You know the uniform rules”

“Yeah”, Elen rolled her eyes and kept walking.

“You know what?”, said Chun Li, dragging her finger down the papers. “I’m in room 203, east wing, Cammy’s room!”

“Great, we’re all on the same floor”

“Li!”, someone called out. Fei Long.

“Did you get your dorm number yet?” he asked when he caught up to them.

“Yeah, room 293, east wing”

“1101, west wing”, Fei Long held his paper up to Chun Li’s face. “I’m really sorry that I’ve been running off all day, but the guys keep…”

“Yeah, whatever”, Chun Li cut him off.

“I know this is a bad time to say this, but I’ve got to go. Rogby practice”, he ran off, waving.

“I’ll help you unpack”, offered Elena.

“Okay, sure!”

“Excuse me”, said a male voice. “Can you tell me where the general office is?”

Elena and Chun Li looked at him. He was wearing jeans and a black wind breaker. He had a school bag flung over one shoulder and his brown hair was tied back in a small ponytail.

“Ya, it’s right over there”, Chun Li pointed.

“Thanx”, he smiled st them and walked towards the office.

Elena shrugged. “Let’s go”

Days Later (finally)

Ryu sat on a bench in the large gymnasium during physical education class. All classes, except for the basic, math, science, English, and French classes, consisted of students of all grades. Most foreign exchange students were together.

He looked over at Chun Li, who had just walked into the gym, in her compulsory gym uniform- a T-shirt with the school logo and red shorts. Ken saw him staring.

“Got a crush?” Ken mocked.

“No! What, I, uh..”

“Just joking”, Ken chuckled. “So ready for the ropes?”

“Yeah”, Ryu smiled at him. They were both used to climbing ropes, back in Japan, as part of their training. This would be a breeze. Ken scratched his knee.

“Look, here comes Danny boy”, said Ken.

Dan Hibiki walked over, tucking in his shirt. He missed the first day of school because he was still recovering from a twisted ankle, that resulted from a street fight. He was shocked to see Ryu and Ken, when he first came back to school a few days ago. The trio had so much to catch up on. Dan sat next to Ken on the bench.

“I wanna see everyone on the benches!”, ordered the phs. ed. teacher.

Everyone hustled to the benches.

“As you all know, today we climb the ropes”

Most students groaned.

“C’mon, liven up, you all look stoned”

After testing about ten students, Ryu was really surprised to see that none could reach the top. When his turn came, he shot up the rope in a flash. Even the teacher was impressed. Ryu sat on the floor, watching the rest of the class, drop off the ropes, like flies.

“Hey, check it, cute girl’s bending over”, Dan nudged Ken.

“Where?”

“There”, Dan pointed to Chun Li. “I’m thinking about askin her out”

“You’re what?!”, snapped Ryu.
