Your Adolescent Street Fighters Ch.4
By Silvercane
Chun Li and Cammy made their way through the crowded cafeteria. They finally
found a table and took their place.
“Wow, it’s so crowded”, said Chun Li as she pulled out a salami sandwich
from a paper bag.
“I know”, replied Cammy. She opened the lid to a small tupperware filled
with sticks of carrots and celery. “Do you know how many calories there are in
salami?”
Chun Li rolled her eyes, Cammy was one of those. Before they could even take
one bite of their food, a girl approached them. They both recognized her from
h/r. How could you not? She was outrageous-looking with her uniform shirt tied
in a not just blow her midriff, thigh-high stockings, a very short skirt, a lot
of wicked jewelry and dramatic make-up. She was very unique-looking. She was
about Chun Li’s height, with dark skin and short white hair, though, Chun Li
found her exotically beautiful.
“Hey!” she said in a friendly voice.
“Hullo”, said Cammy.
“Hi”, said Chun Li.
“Mind if I sit here?”
“Not at all”, replied Cammy and moved over. Now Chun Li was sitting across
both Cammy and the girl.
“Name’s Elena”, she said and played with her earring.
“I’m Chun Li and this is Cammy”
“Yeah, I know, you guys are in my h/r. Cute hair. So, how about that Mr.
Griffin, what a loser” (Their h/r teacher)
“I know”, said Chun Li and they all laughed remembering when he had gum
stuck on his ass for the whole class period.
“So, you guys foreign exchange students?” and she took a carrot from Cammy’s
container, without asking. Cammy didn’t seem to mind.
“Yeah, you?”
“Oui, je viens de la France”, she said, impressing them.
“Cool”
“Well, I’m originally from Africa, but I lived in France almost all my life.
America’s not that bad, though. Got some cute guys. You guys stayin’ in the
dorms?”
“Yup! Well, Chun Li doesn’t know which room yet because she stayed in a
hotel last night…but I’m in room 203, in the east wing”, said Cammy. She had
already stayed in the dorm for 2 days now. “I don’t have a roomate, yet, though
I should be assigned one today”
“I’m in room 210 and that’s my roomate over there.” She pointed to a girl
sitting by herself in the corner of the caf, reading a book. She was also in
their h/r. She looked Arabian and she had long dark brown hair, pulled back in
a ponytail.
“Her name’s Pullum Purna, she’s from Arabia. She’s quiet and shy. I’m like
the total opposite.
“Maybe we should go talk to her”, started Cammy. “I mean, she is in our
class and especially your roomate.
Elena sighed, “Leave it to me” And she got up and headed towards the girl.
Cammy and Chun Li watched as Elena started to talk to Pullum. Then she
pointed to over to their table and Chun Li waved. She kicked Cammy under the
table, cueing her to wave. Cammy was busy adjusting her barrette. Soon enough,
Elena came trotting back with a proud, successful smile. Pullum followed her.
“Pullum, this is Cammy and Chun Li. Cammy and Chun Li, this is Pullum”
“Hey”
“Hullo”
“Hi, uh…I’ve seen you around”, said Pullum. She seemed sweet.
Elena took a seat next to Chun Li and Pullum went to the other side and sat
next to Cammy. Chun Li was glad to have made 3 new friends. She still wasn’t
sure whether to consider Ken and Ryu her friends.
“Hey! Guess what?! Chun Li is like best friends with Fei Long!” said Cmmy
excitedly.
“Who?”, asked Pullum, who was combing her fingers through her long silky
hair.
“Fei Long, the actor? The Kung Fu guy?” questioned Elena, looking skeptical.
“I’m serio…”, Cammy’s words trailed off as she looked up.
“There you are Li! I’ve been looking for you”
Chun Li and the girls turned around to see Fei Long. He was wearing a
Glenmore sports jacket. Only jocks or their girlfriends wore those.
“Guess who made the rugby team?” The answer couldn’t be more obvious.
“Rugby? Do you even know how to play rugby?” asked Chun Li in a mocking
voice.
“No…but how hard could it be. I mean, I went for tryouts and when the coach
heard who I was, I was automatically on the team. Isn’t it great?” Fei Long was
beaming.
“Yeah, it’s really great that you’re on a team, playing a sport that you don’t
have clue how to play, just because you’re famous”, said Chun Li sarcastically.
“Thanx”, Fei Long smirked. “Well, gotta go. I’ll meet your friends next
time.” And he zoomed towards the group of jocks, gesturing him over and left
the cafeteria.
Chun Li shook her head and turned back to her friends. Cammy was smiling at
Elena and had an ‘I told you so’ expression on her face. Elena had her mouth
open. Pullum was twirling a strand of hair around her finger.
“Oh my God”, said Elena. Then she laughed. “I certainly made the right group
of friends. Any way, how ‘bout I point out some people to you guys.
“How do you know people, aren’t you new here too?” asked Pullum.
“All you have to do is go up to people and talk to them. Also, I heard some
things from other people who have been here for years.”
They were impressed. Elena went pointing away.
“That’s Edmond Honda”, she pointed to a tall, obese guy sitting at a table
with a bunch of other guys. Ryu and Ken were with them. “He’s a very respected
and famous sumo wrestling champion.”
“Isn’t he in our h/r?” asked Cammy.
Elena nodded and went on. Next she pointed to two girls sitting at a table
filled with giggling popular girls. One of them was a red head and the other
had blue hair. The blue head looked pretty muscular.
“That’s Blair and Sharon Dame. Sisters. Just transferred here from Europe. I
don’t like any one of them. Sharon’s a snob and Blair thinks she’s the
strongest woman in the world. They can both street fight though.”
“They can fight?” Chun Li was interested. “Cammy and I can street fight too”
“No way!” So does Pullum and me! What kind of fighting are you into? I use
Capoeira technique”, Elena was anxious.
Chun Li went first. “I use Chinese Kenpo, Wushu,…” She was interrupted.
“Oh my God!”, cried Cammy. “I think I lost my bracelet!” She was feeling her
bare wrist.
“What kind of a bracelet was it?” asked Pullum looking under the table.
“A charm bracelet! It must have came off in Math or something. Will you guys
come with me ?”
They all grabbed their stuff and left the cafeteria.
Where’d they go? Ryu thought. One minute, Chun Li and a group of girls were
sitting there talking and the next minute, they were gone.
“Hey guys! Watch this!” shouted a blond guy named Joe. He spit out a peach
pit and it landed straight into a garbage bin a few feet away. He raised his
arms in success. The guys cheered, even Ryu was impressed.
“So, Ryu,…tell me more about Shotokan Karate-do”
“Well…”, began Ryu until someone shouted, “FIGHT OUTSIDE!”
Everyone stampeded outside of the cafeteria. Ken grabbed Ryu by the arm.
“C’mon! Or we’ll miss a good old-fashioned schoolyard fight!”
Ryu wanted to see this.
