“Catch!”
“Huh? Ow! What the h*ll?!”, yelled Guy as the basketball bounced off his
chest.
“Guy, stay alert! We’re down by 30 points!”, shouted Ken as he dribbled down
the gym towards the basket.
“Rrrrrrriiiiiinnnngggggg!”, the bell rang.
“Times up boys and girls! Hit the showers”. Ordered the phys ed. teacher. “Guy,
what’s wrong?”, asked Ken as he walked over, wiping the sweat off his forehead
with his shirt. “You seem uneasy lately”
“I don’t know…this sound stupid but I just have this strange feeling that
someone’s following me all the time or watching me”, Guy muttered as he made
his way out the gym.
“Following you? What makes you so special?”, Ken mocked.
“Just forget it. I’m probably just paranoid”
“Then c’mon! Let’s go to the cafeteria, I’m starving”. As if on cue, Ken’s
stomach grumbled loudly.
“Shouldn’t we change first?”
“Ah, we can do it later”. Ken began to run and collided into someone as he
turned the corner.
“Hey!”, yelled a fuming Cammy as she hit the floor. “Stupid idiot! Why don’t
you – oh, hi Ken”, said Cammy when she looked up and realized who it was.
“I’m really sorry, Cammy, I was just running to the caf”. Ken held out a
hand to help her up.
“Whew! You smell”, informed Cammy as she scrunched up her face.
Ken lifted up his arm and sniffed. “What? I smell like a man”.
“You smell like wet socks”, Cammy said as she fanned the air in front of
her.
“Fine, I can take a hint. I’ll go shower. But I’ll miss ya while I’m gone!”,
replied Ken as he embraced Cammy in a tight bear hug.
“Eww! You’re all wet!”, she shrieked.
As Cammy tried to fight Ken off, Ryu walked by, having to dodge one of Cammy’s
punches.
“Oh, sorry, Ryu”, replied Cammy meekly. “I was aiming for Ken. He was being
an a$$. And he smells like one too”.
“Ryu’s used to my man odor”, replied Ken as he patted Ryu on the back.
Ryu grinned at him. “Cammy, is Chun Li alright? I haven’t seen her in awhile”,
he said.
Cammy’s sudden crestfallen face told Ryu that there was a problem. “I’m
afraid she’s not going to be with us anymore”, she said sadly.
“She’s…she’s not…dying, is she?”, Guy studdered.
“No, idiot! She’s going back to China”.
“Why?”, Ryu asked with concern.
“I don’t really know, I just know that something’s bothering her.”
“But the year’s almost over, she could at least stay for the rest of it”,
mentioned Ken.
“That’s what I told her”, said Cammy.
“Plus, has she forgotten all of the fun we’ve had?”, added Guy.
“Yeah, Ryu, remember when you broke her ribs?”. Ken chuckled. “Ryu?…where
the h*ll did he go?”
Guy and Cammy looked down the hall, but Ryu was already gone.

“Dring…dring…dr- hello?”
“Yun? Hey! It’s me, Li-je!”, Chun Li greeted on the phone.
“Li-je! How’s it going?! I haven’t spoke to you in so long. What’d you get
me? What time is it there? How come you’re calling? Is Long-hing in trouble?”.
Chun Li laughed at the preteen’s anxiousness. She could hear a familiar
voice talking in the background.
“Yun, who’s on the phone?”, the voice said. It was Yang.
“It’s Li-je, go away!”
“No, let me talk to her!”
“I was here first!”
“Hi si-je!! It’s Yang!” She could hear Yang calling her and then his muffled
voice as the two brothers fought over the phone.
“Yun! Yang! Just get me sifu on the phone and I promise I’ll answer all your
questions after I speak to him, kay?”, Chun Li yelled onto the receiver.
“Hold on”, Yun replied as he called Gen.
“Chun Li, how nice it is of you to call me”, said a friendly voice on the
phone. “You’re dearly missed around here”.
“Yeah, I miss everyone too, Sifu, it’s good to hear your voice. I am just
calling to say that…I’m coming home”.
“What’s wrong, my flower?”, he spoke with concern.
“Nothing, I’m just homesick, I guess.”
“I can always tell when something’s wrong, why don’t you tell me about it?”
“Well- okay, there is something…At first I was doing well in America, I met
great friends and I love the school, but I recently started my nightmares again
and now, Bison is all I think about.”, Chun Li sighed.
“Chun Li, no matter where you go, you’re fears will haunt you unless you
learn to let go of the past. I have always seen an undefeatable strength in you
that shows me if you want to let go, you can. The only problem is that you don’t
want to. Chun Li, if you want to come home, I will not stop you. However, I am
advising you to stay for the rest of the year, with your friends there to get
your mind off unpleasant things.”
Chun Li took a bit to reflect on Gen’s advice. All her life, no matter what
Gen said, she thought it was right. She knew if she took his advice, she would
be on the right path.
“Okay, but I’m only doing it for you, sifu”
“That’s good.”
Chun Li still felt unsure about staying, but her mind kept telling her that
if she kept running from Bison, this would mean he won. She couldn’t let that
happen.
After awhile of talking to Yun and Yang, she gave them and sifu her best
wishes and hung up. She felt happier and more relieved, so she decided to take
a walk. In the main hall, she ran into Ryu.
“Chun Li, why are you going back to China?”, he blurted out immediately,
eventhough he knew it wasn’t any of his business.
“I’m not leaving, I’m staying right here. Well, bye!”. Chun Li walked off
happily.
Ryu stood still watching her and scratched his head in confusion. He walked
off confused, but extremely relieved and he didn’t know why.
Chun Li let a small smile escape her lips as she walked slowly. ‘He’s so
cute when he’s worried’, she thought to herself.
