Your Adolescent Street Fighters Ch. 16
By Silvercane
Ryu and Chun Li walked back inside; where the moronic game of Scrabble was
still taking place.
“Dan, please stop making up words! ‘Dimalicate?’ The h*ll is ‘dimalicate’?!”
Cammy asked annoyed.
“Well, well, Miss Straight A doesn’t know”, Dan mocked. “Use it in a
sentence!”
“Fine,………Don’t dimalicate your self-esteem.”, he replied after a minute of
thinking about it.
Everyone gave him a ‘come on’ look that forced him to retrieve his playing
tiles.
“So how’s ‘Scrabble for the insane’ going?” asked Chun Li.
“Well”, began Cammy as she picked up a paper and started calculating. “I’m
winning by 132 points.
Ken, Guy, and Dan rolled their eyes.
“She’s coming up with words that we’ve never heard of before. When we
challenge her, she’s always right and we lose turns, that’s why she winning”,
protested Ken.
“It’s not my fault you guys don’t know-…Hey! What happened?” Cammy asked as
it went pitch black in the room.
“Hold on”, said a voice that sounded like Ken. No one could see a thing. Then
a small light flashed on and Ken’s face appeared. He had turned on a flashlight
and left the rec. room to find out what happened to the electricity. The rest
of them sat still in the dark.
“Well”, started Dan in a seductive voice and he shifted over. “You must be
scared, Chun Li. Don’t worry, I’ll guard you”, and he moved his hand down a
back.
“Dan, it’s Guy”, informed Guy flatly and Dan immediately removed his hand.
Everyone started laughing.
“Bad news guys”, said Ken’s voice, panting. “The maid told me that a fuse
blew, so the power won’t be on for a while.
“OW! Ken, ya step on wy hawd!”, yelped Fei Long. (You stepped on my hand!)
“Sorry!”
“Hey, why don’t we play a game?” suggested Cammy. “We could play Sardines?”
“The h*ll is Sardines?”, asked Chun Li.
“One person hides and the rest look for him/her. When you find that person,
you hide in that spot with him/her until others find you. After a while,
everyone’s crushed together like sardines. The last one is the next hider”, she
explained.
“Okay, but my house is too big and someone might get lost, especially in the
dark. Let’s limit it to the west wing, agreed?”, asked Ken.
Everyone replied “yes”, not too thrilled.
“So, who hides first?” asked Guy.
“I vote Ryu, since he never participates in our idiotic games”, said Ken.
“I…”, Ryu started but everyone interrupted.
“Ryu it is!”
He knew he had no choice, so he gave in and hesitantly went to look for a
place to hide while everyone stayed and counted to 50. He took the flashlight
so that he could see. He ended up hiding in the bathtub, behind the curtains in
the washroom. After 5 minutes, no one had found him, so tired of standing, he
sat down. He was surprised when someone yanked open the curtain. “Ryu? Is that
you?” asked Chun Li. All she could see was a figure.
“Yes, you found me”, replied Ryu’s voice flatly. He didn’t find this
childish game amusing.
Chun Li climbed into the tub and snuggled up to him, which made him feel
awkward and nervous. He could smell her hair shampoo and some perfume- which
were very pleasant. He moved his face closer to sniff it in and sneezed when it
became too strong. “Sorry, is it my perfume?” asked Chun Li. “Cammy insisted on
spraying it on me this morning”
After it became silent for what seemed like forever.
“Chun Li, I’m sorry for breaking your ribs”, said Ryu.
Chun Li smiled because of his bluntness, but of course, no one could see
her.
“That’s alright, I mean, it was a fight. Something like that is expected.”,
she assured him.
“Your fighting technique is highly skilled. You were a challenging opponent”,
Ryu mentioned. “I can feel your fighting aura”
“Like the aura of the bond between us?” Chun Li reminded him from the time
he said it in art class.
“No, that was different. I don’t blame you if you don’t feel it. Ken’s
always telling me I’m going crazy when I feel an aura” “I feel it too”, Chun Li
whispered to herself, but it was loud enough for Ryu to hear and it caught him
off guard.
“What?” he asked and turned his body, elbowing Chun Li in the chest.
“OW!” she screamed.
“I am so sorry”, Ryu was going to place a hand on where he hit her, but held
back when he realized where it was. “Chun Li, I deeply apologize, I would never
hurt you on purpose” His voice sounded worried.
“I’m fine, you don’t have to be so worried”
“What you said caught me off guard”
“Alright, I admit that I feel some sort of clingy attracting thing, a bond, as
you would call it, happy?” asked Chun Li, angry that he had heard her before.
Ryu was silent, he didn’t know what to say, he was so humiliated. Thank god,
she couldn’t see him blush. But now, he knew the truth.
“Listen, Ryu…”, Chun Li felt bad and placed a hand on his knee- that made
him flinch. “Are you alright? You seem really tense” “I…uh…”
She found his nervousness around her quite cute. She moved her lips close to
his ear and he could feel her breath.
“Do you like me?” She had to ask.
“Yes, I value your friendship”
“No, I meant-“ but someone cut her off.
‘Hey! There you guys are!” said a voice that sounded like Dan. “I heard Chun
Li scream before, is that you, Chun Li?”
“Yeah, I was elbowed in the bre…chest”
“Want me to rub it for you?” offered Dan.
“You touch me, I kill you”
After awhile, everyone was crushed in the bathtub. Ken was last. “I can’t
believe I was the last to find you guys, in my own house!” he replied.
