Your Adolescent Street Fighters Ch. 14

As Vega climbed into the ring, girls from local high schools, who came to watch, cheered him on. Balrog climbed in from the other end and looked ready to fight.

“FIGHT!” yelled the announcer-encouraged by the anticipation of the crowd.

“Wow, I bet you didn’t know Vega had a snake tattoo across his chest”, said Cammy to Chun Li, with her eyes glued to the fight.

“I know, there’s so much stuff that I didn’t kno-“

“Excuse me miss”, interrupted a man. “You’ll be fighting next in ring number 2”

“But I’m not supposed to fight for another half hour”

“In ring #2, Chun Li Xiang and Cammy White!”, proclaimed the announcer.

Chun Li and Cammy stood there, wide-eyed.

“I can’t fight you,…you’re my friend!”, exclaimed Chun LI.

“C’mon! On to the ring, girls!”, shouted the crowd. There were angry and impatient men shouting at them.

“Let’s just fight, c’mon, for fun”, said Cammy as she headed towards the ring.

Chun Li hesitantly followed her.

Vega crouched down, kicked Balrog in the legs, rolled to the side, and jumped up. Balrog delivered a hard straight punch- leaving him wide open for a sweep kick from Vega. As Balrog got up, he looked at Vega, who had a glassy stare through his mask. Balrog sprinted forward and smashed Vega with a lightning quick punch. Vega flew back and slammed into the ropes. As Balrog made his way towards him, Vega executed a quick forward roll and took a quick stab at Balrog’s side. Balrog screeched as he twirled and made an attempt to punch Vega across his head but Vega was too swift. He dropped down quickly, dodging Balrog’s punch and stabbed him again- this time, in the muscle of his thigh, and rolled away. Balrog grunted and shrugged off the pain. He kept advancing on Vega, but Vega just kept dodging and jumping away. All the circling was making Balrog woozy from the loss of blood. He knew Vega was just going to continue his “can’t catch me” game, so he gave up and collapsed on the floor, breathing heavily. Two men drug Balrog, the loser, away. Vega raised his claw in triumph as his fans cheered.

Cammy twisted herself into a spike and launched herself forward. “Cannon Drill!” she shouted. Chun Li was struck right in the stomach and bounced off the ropes onto the floor. She looked up to see Cammy advancing on her. “Spinning Bird Kick!” she shouted. Defying gravity, Chun Li flipped upside down and spun around like a top. Cammy was kicked several times and had no time to retaliate. After Chun Li finished her spinning, she flipped forward and delivered her trademark lightning kick. The series of powerful kicks struck so quickly, that all that was visible was a blue blur. “Yaahhhhh!” Chun Li jumped and double kicked Cammy in the chest. Cammy hit the floor hard and made useless attempts to get up. She lay on the floor. Chun Li ran over to help her up.

“Good fight” choked out Cammy. “You have to teach me that move” And Cammy dropped her head.

Chun Li smiled and moved out of the way as people carried Cammy off the ring. The announcer lifted Chun Li’s arm in victory. People cheered and shouted. Chun Li looked to the crowd. Fei Long and Honda were whistling. She smiled and noticed Ken, Dan, Guy, and Ryu eyeing her in astonishment. She got off the ring and held her shoulder- that was in pain from Cammy’s spin axel knuckle. Cammy was not an easy opponent. She was fast and Chun Li had bruises all over her body.

“Wow! You were incredible!” shouted Sakura as she ran towards her. “Can you teach me that blur kick?!”

“Uh…”

“Sakura! How’d you get in?” asked Ken as he made his way over with the guys. Karin made her appearance too.

“I’m gonna see Ryu beat everyone!” she said proudly. “But she really surprised me”, she pointed to Chun Li.

“Yeah, awesome moves”, replied Dan. “Maybe you can give me some private training” he said with a devilish smile and twitched his brow.

Chun Li rolled her eyes and saw Vega. He was signing autographs for screaming teenage girls. Vega put his arms around the shoulders of two girls. He winked at Chun Li when he noticed her stare.

‘Nice moves”, he said and walked away with his group of girls. “He’s hot” said Karin.

“Ugh! What a pig”, Chun Li said to herself. “I have to see if Cammy’s alright, I’ll see you guys”. She walked away from the group.

“Chun Li”, Ryu tapped her on the shoulder. “You are truly a skilled fighter”

“Thanx”, she smiled-, that made Ryu want to melt.

She walked away.

“I’ll be seeing you in the tournament”, she called back and disappeared into the crowd.
