Your Adolescent Street Fighters Ch.11
By Silvercrane
“Chun Li…Chun Li…CHUN LI!”
“What?!”
“I’ve been calling your name for 5 minutes”, said Cammy, frustrated.
“Sorry, I was meditating, you should try it. It relieves all stress and makes
you feel completely out of this world.”
“No thanx, it’s a bit too quiet for me, anyways, aren’t you going to class?”
“Yeah, I better get going. Now where’d I put my shoes?…”
Chun Li and Cammy were up in their dorm in the morning before first period.
The weather had gotten cooler and the overnight rain had created a thick, misty
morning air. Chun Li fished her shoes out of the laundry basket and clumsily
attempted to put them on while walking. She gathered her books and stole one
last look at herself in the mirror.
“Uh, Chun Li?” Cammy called, as Chun Li was making her way through the door.
“Yeah?”
` “Your not still mad about last Friday, are you?” Cammy asked meekly.
“(sigh) How many times do I have to tell you? I’m fine. The only person that
I’m pissed at is Fei Long, that half-witted, son of a-“
Cammy interrupted her, “You know he was just trying to help”
“Whatever” and Chun Li disappeared, closing the door behind her.

‘I wonder if she’s still mad? Well, I didn’t do anything wrong. I thought
she was in trouble. I couldn’t have just ignored the situation, like the other
guys. Could I? No,…it’s not my nature’ Ryu sat in the art class, pondering over
the whole mess. He didn’t want Chun Li to be angry with him.
“RRRIIIIIINNNGG!!”
The bell had rung, and everyone dashed into the class to take their seats on
the high stools around the large square tables. Chun Li walked in leisurely.
She looked around the room for a seat. Ryu was sitting silently. His eyes were
directed at the window, but he looked like he was staring into space. Chun Li
grinned and sat next to him. He gulped nervously as he looked over at Chun Li,
who actually smiled at him.
“Alright, today, we start with the pottery. There aren’t enough pottery
machines for all of you, so you’ll have to get yourself a partner” said the
teacher, trying to project her voice over the chattering.
Chun Li looked at Ryu, “Wanna be with me?”
“I,…uh…”
“Fine, I’ll ask someone else”
“No! I’ll be your partner”
“Good, I’ll start the machine.”
Ryu watched as Chun Li walked over to the corner. What were they going to
talk about? She didn’t seem at all mad. He rolled up his sleeves and hesitantly
walked towards her.
She plopped the clay on the machine. She placed her hands on the side of the
pile of wet clay and the machine started spinning. “Are you in any way angry at
me?” asked Ryu. He had to ask.
She looked up at his sympathetic eyes.
“No,…it’s just that all you guys had no business spying on me” “We thought
you were in trouble”
“You thought I was in trouble, and I wasn’t. Even if I was, I could take
care of myself!”
“If there was a chance that you were going to get hurt, I couldn’t just
ignore it”
“Why not?!” she asked angrily and let go of the clay, which was still
spinning. A piece of it splattered onto the wall. Ryu took hold of it and it
continued spinning between his hands. “I was brought up to help people…”
“Well, there’s other people that need help, not me!”
“Would you stop being stubborn and try to understa…”
“STUBBORN! I am going to kick you’re a..”
“Ahem!” the teacher interrupted them and walked off. Chun Li lowered her
voice, when she noticed the whole class staring at her.
“You don’t even know me! Who are you to call me stubborn?!”
“If you would only listen…”
“Listen to what?”
“Look, I couldn’t let you go unguarded because,..well…I..”
“Because what?”
“I…”
“Just say IT!”
She swung her arm down and accidently hit Ryu’s arm off the clay. It started
splitting and flying over the place. They both cupped their hands over the
clay, while it was still spinning. They pretended to be working when the
teacher walked around again. Chun Li looked down at the hypnotic spinning piece
of clay. Ryu’s hands were half cupped around the clay and her hands. She looked
up at him, who blushingly slid his hands off, leaving Chun Li with the control
of the clay.
“Well, what were you going to say?” Chun Li whispered, eyeing the teacher
from the corner of her eye.
“Forget it”
“No, I hate it when people do that”
“(sigh) I couldn’t let you go unguarded because you could get hurt, that’s
all.”
“That was not what you were going to say”
“What do you want to hear?” Ryu was tired of Chun Li’s bickering.
“Just tell me what you were going to say, that’s all!”
“Vega seems like a bad guy”
“What?!”
“You need to be protected from him”
“Why do you care?!”
There eyes met, with an unmistakable attraction. He felt like she was
draining his soul through her powerful mesmerizing stare. The chemistry between
them seemed to get stronger by every passing second. Chun Li wanted to block
out the prodigious strong force and maintain her anger at him, but something
kept her in the atmosphere, at least for a while.
“I don’t know, I just do…I feel a bond between us. A discarnate aura, that I’ve
never felt about anyone el…”
“A bond? I met you 2 weeks ago!”
“I know, but…”
“Look, Ryu, just stay out of my business, pleeaaaasssssee” Ryu looked down
at the spinning clay that was taking the form of a pot. Chun Li thought
silently to herself. She secretly felt the bond herself. She didn’t know what
to say. And she definitely didn’t want to go on her date with Vega tomorrow
night.
