Untitled Ch.2
By Shadow Dragon

Dan opened his eyes and groaned. His head hurt like hell. Dan propped himself up on his elbows and looked around. Everything was unfamiliar. He threw off the blankets and got up, noticing that his left arm was swathed with bandages. Thankfully it was not his right arm, or he would be unable to use Gadouken attacks for the time being, and he wasn't sure if he was in friendly or hostile territory. Dan smirked when he remembered how Master Gouken had taught him to use both arms during a Hadouken. He would like to see Ryu throw one with his arm bandaged.

Dan pushed the door open and came face to face with Fei Long.

"So you're awake," Fei Long smiled. "Do you feel okay?"

"Do I look like I'm feeling okay?" Dan replied grumpily. "What happened?"

"I arrived just in time to see Sagat blasting you with his chi. I fought with him, then the police arrived. Sagat ran away. Your arm was badly burned, so I carried you home and bandaged it."

Dan grimaced. "Thanks. For a moment I thought my arm was broken."

"Hey, Guy! Here's the report you wanted," a young office boy handed Guy a thick envelope. "By the way, the chief wants to see you and Chun."

Guy opened the envelope and peered at the contents distractedly. "Thanks. Did that old man say what did he want?"

The boy shrugged.

"Okay. Thanks again." Guy slumped into his chair and sighed. What did that man want now? He glanced at his watch. Thirty minutes to lunchbreak. Now would be as good a time as any. Guy stood up and hollered across the office.

"Chun! Chief wants to see you!"

Someone knocked on the door.

"Come in."

The door creaked as Chun Li and Guy stepped in. "You wanted to see us, sir?" Chun Li asked.

"I did," Captain Happousai tossed a copy of the morning paper as well as several pieces of paper on the desk. "You've read about the destruction of Sensei Dan's dojo?"

Guy and Chun Li lifted up their heads in unison. "You mean Dan Hibiki, sir?" said Guy. He remembered the pink-dressed martial artist who defeated him in the second Alpha tournament all too well.

"You know him? No matter. You two have been assigned to track down the arsonist. A few pedestrians have reported seeing a tall, bald man fighting with Dan just before the dojo exploded. Dan is the key witness here, but nobody knows where he's gone to. Anyway, here's a sketch of the suspect based on eyewitness accounts."

Captain Happousai handed Guy and Chun Li a piece of paper with pencilled drawings on it. Chun Li stared. Something about the face in the picture piqued her memory, but she couldn't pin it down.

"I regret to say this, but that is all the information we have for now. Your main task is to track down this Dan Hibiki. With his testimony we will be able to arrest the suspect very soon."

Colonel Guile put down the paper. The arson of the dojo of an expert martial artist. A small voice tickled him at the back of his mind: this is Bison's work.

"Oh, shake it off," Guile muttered to himself. But still the voice remained. The only person who held a grudge against Dan big enough to burn down his dojo was Sagat. And Sagat was a member of Shadowlaw.

"Guile! Did you see the paper?" Charlie's voice yelled over from the kitchen. Guile smiled as he thought about the incredibly lucky escape he had from death at the hands of Bison. His bulletproof vest had protected him from the machine gun, and he managed to grab hold to small twigs and radio Command for backup when he fell down the waterfall.

Charlie stepped out onto the porch of the hotel to join Guile, holding a cup of coffee and a white towel draped across his shoulder. "The arson case," he mused as he saw the paper in Guile's hands. "You thinking what I'm thinking?"

"That this is Bison's handiwork?" Guile shook his head. "Sagat may be a Shadowlaw member, but still, there's no solid proof."

"Then what do you say we go have a visit to the site?"

"No. Oh no. We're on vacation, remember? The last thing I want to do is go and sift ashes to find proof. I'm going to relax."

"Suit yourself. You don't mind me going, do you?"

"As long as you return in one piece."
