Fists and Flames: Beginning of the Cataclysm Ch.22

By Sakura152

The serene night air swirled around the replacement troops as they stood on the silent shores of Taiwan.

With lots of coaxing, arguing and reassuring Ibuki had persuaded the others to allow her to lead the. Being a ninja, she could detect and protect them from any unseen presence around them.

Ibuki’s chocolate brown eyes masterfully swept across the scene, a white sandy beach, which lead into the jungle, where the city was. Seeing and sensing nothing, she turned to the others and placed a long slender finger on her mouth under her mask. She turned to the jungle and began to walk, silently demanding the others follow her- which they did.

Chun-li gently squeezed Ryu’s hand, “She’s ver domineering.” She whispered.

“Well, she’s used to being alone. And when you’re alone your always in charge.” Ryu whispered as he lowered his head to Chun-li’s. “ Lets jut let her think we can’t make it on our own, it will help her eg- OW!” Ryu stepped back after running into Ken.

Everyone’s gaze was set in frustration and on them. Ibuki’s in general.

Chun-li looked down blushing, forcing Ryu to mutter apologies for the both of them.

Ibuki turned to continue on their way, mumbling obscenities as she did. But before continuing to walk she quickly reached inside the huge cut out ovals of her ensemble and withdrew two sais. Tossing them slightly upward, she caught them by the tips and with lighting fast speed, threw one at a tree trunk and one ahead of he. That only took about two seconds, not giving the target time to react.

The tree trunk coughed and shimmered, revealing a man, who fell to the ground. The other sai stood in mid-air, but no man emerged. Ibuki’s arms quickly flew up, one after the next, blocking but leaving her front open. Her ears twitched and her arms flew in front of her stomach, her hands grasping the unseen terror. With a grunt she pulled back at what she what she was holding, knelt on the ground, grasped the sai and pushed down. Again the choking sound was heard and a man appeared.

Ibuki slowly stood, her breath fast and ragged, not from fighting but from anger. “Stay quiet! Next time we might not be so lucky.” She hissed narrowing her eyes threateningly.

They walked on, killing the guards they found. They couldn’t allow them to live and warn Bison of their advancing party.

Ibuki stopped and turned to face them again.

Chun-li and Ryu shrugged, for they hadn’t said anything since that other ordeal.

Ibuki slowly smiled, shook her head, and lifted her finger to her mouth again. She leaned forward, “We’re entering the city.” She whispered, while simultaneously throwing a sai inches from Cammy’s head.

They all nodded, Cammy shakily, and followed her into the city.

The chilled night air enveloped them, much like the feeling that enveloping Ryu now. He didn’t often understand these feelings he had, but always knew they meant something was amiss.

A slight tremor ran up his back. He shivered and closed his eyes. ‘It must be anticipation to fight Bison.’ Ryu thought, trying to shake off the feeling.

From an alleyway across the dirt road, a red pair of eyes watched their every move. The red orbs widened and narrowed at the sight of a dark haired man. Akuma growled.
