Outbreak Ch. 16
By Kat
Chun-li burst through the doors that led to Master Gen's office. Once again he
was reading documents and signing. She finally got his attention when she
slammed the doors shut. He looked up at her with a bewildered expression.
Chun-li sat the swords down then began to speak.
"What in the H*LL happened to me", Chun-li asked hysterically.
"C-Chun-li? What happened?" asked Gen in a calm voice. "What?!?
You mean you don't know?! That's why I came here…I was sure you would know what
was happening to me!!!" Chun-li said. "Chun-li…you must calm
down." Gen warned still in a calm voice. "Calm down? CALM DOWN?!? I
wake up this morning to find my body has change, a black tattoo right above my
*ss, and you want me to calm down?!?" Chun-li asked yelling now. Her chest
was rising and falling rapidly, and she was taking quick breaths. Master Gen
gave her a stern look. Chun-li immediately regretted yelling. Yelling at him
was disrespectful. And that's the last thing she wanted was to be disrespectful
to him. She lowered her eyes and gave an apology. "S-Sorry Sifu", she
said.
"It's alright…now tell me what happened last night" Gen said.
"I……I…um", Chun-li stammered. "You messed with the swords didn't
you." Gen asked. "It wasn't my fault", Chun-li tried to explain.
Gen raised an eyebrow at her.
"Well…maybe just a teeny bit…okay…Maybe it was my fault…okay. But last
night it was like they were calling to me. So I just picked them up
and….." Chun-li trailed off.
Gen sighed and stood up. "It actually wasn't all of your fault child.
That's why I wanted you to leave them here until I could tell you all that you
needed to know about them…including the history of them", he said picking
up one of the swords. Chun-li leaned forward a little. All of her attention was
now focussed on Gen. "History" she asked.
Gen sat the sword down and went back to his desk to sit. "3,000 years
ago Your great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great,
great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great,
great, great, great, great, great, grandmother Shatana was born. She grew up to
become one of the greatest warrioress ever born. She was one of the few people
in her time that could perform the chi. She was even one of the creators of the
Wushu. She soon even had a daughter. The only fault in her was her split
personality. Latana. Latana was like the devil himself. She killed and tortured
people for the fun of it. Shatana did every thing she could to keep the demon
part of herself from emerging. As the years past…Shatana was able to repress
the demon. But she was getting old. She wanted so desperately for her powers to
be past down to her future bloodline. So her family could share the powers and
gifts that she was blessed with. And since chi and powers could not be passed
on hereditarily, she got a local wizard to create the swords for her. Then she
created a spell that would put her powers into them. Her very essence…her very
soul. But the only problem was that if she performed the spell, not only would
she be putting her own soul in, she would be putting Latana's in as well. She
decided that the gift she had was to special that it had to be passed on. So
she took the chance and performed the spell anyway. In the end, both souls had
been put in the swords like she had feared. Years later she died, and like she
wanted…the swords have been passed down ever since", Gen finished taking a
sip of water.
Chun-li let it sink in and then finally spoke. "That still doesn't
explain how my body changed", she said. Gen looked up at her then spoke.
"Another thing I forgot to tell you was that even though the swords have
been passed down in the family, no one has used them. They take them and treat
them as a work of art…an antic, a family jewel even…which they are, but no one
has used them. On your father's side of the family there have been plenty of
fighters. But on your mothers side there have been none…except Shatana of
course", he said "and you".
"So I was the first to use them…I mean really use them," Chun-li
asked. "Yes" Gen said. "And as for your physical change…I have
read descriptions of Shatana…and it seems to me that you are becoming
her". Gen said taking off his glasses to rub his eyes. "What if I
don't want to change…to look like her. I mean…not to sound conceded or
anything…but I liked my old body" said Chun-li.
("Didn't we all", Kat's boyfriend say's from living room. Kat
takes off shoe and throws it at him)
"I think that her spirit is inside you. And since her spirit is inside
you…I think you are changing to look like her. I don't know if you can or ever
will change back", Gen said. Chun-li nodded slowly then stopped. A frown
formed on her delicate features. "W-What about……Latana", she said in
a whisper. "I mean…if Shatana's spirit is in me…then wouldn't
Latana's?" she said, letting the word 'Latana' roll off of her tongue.
Personally it left a bad taste in her mouth. "I have no doubt in my mind
that she is in you as well." Said Gen. Chun-li's shoulders slumped a
little at his answer. 'At least it's he's telling me the truth instead of
telling me that it's a possibility that it's not and leading me on', Chun-li
thought to herself. "So I'm going to have a split personality just like
Shatana. And an evil one at that. What am I gonna do Sifu" Chun-li asked
raising her eyes to meet his. "I mean will the demon inside me take over
soon? What does Latana look like?" she asked.
"Well judging by the description Latana looks exactly like Shatana,
except when Latana was in control, her eyes turned red", said Gen.
"What am I gonna do", she repeated. "You can try and work on
repressing the demon." Gen suggested. "That's perfect" Chun-li
said, "We'll practice everyday and-".
"We"? Gen asked. Chun-li li furrowed and eyebrow. "Yes…we.
You are my Sifu ya know." Chun-li said. Gen lowered his head a little,
closed his eyes and shook his head no. "Chun-li…I don't know how to help
you…I don't even know where to began." he said lifting his head.
"What do you mean you don't know anything. You seem to know a lot more of
what's going on than-"
"True I know a lot about what's going on. But I do not know how to help
you repress the demon. But I do know some one that may can help you." Gen
said taking a binder out of his desk. He flipped through it until he found what
he was looking for. "Yohamiro Zane. He was a friend of your mother's. He
knows much about the art of Wushu. I'm sure he can help you help repress the
demon. You can train with him and learn a thing or two while your there."
Gen said. Chun-li bit her bottom lip. She did want to repress the demon…but she
had never trained with anyone but Sifu and her father her whole life. What if
this Yohami- something was strict…or mean. She mentally shook her head. She
looked up to see Gen staring at her curiously. "Is something wrong",
he asked. "N-no…um…where does he live?" Chun-li asked. "He lives
in the Philippines"; Gen said giving her a piece of paper out of the
binder. "Here is his address. Well…the town he lives in anyway. He lives
in the forest. If you ask the villagers there…they will more than likely know
where he is."
"Okay…I guess I'll go home and pack", Chun-li said while lifting
out of her chair. Gen stood up as well. He walked from around his desk and to
Chun-li and gave her a hug.
"Everything will be alright. I will await your return"; said Gen.
Chun-li smiled and hugged him back. They parted and Chun-li let him go.
"Oh…one more thing", Chun-li said while sticking the piece of paper
in her pocket. "Could you tell me what the tattoo means", she asked
while turning around, lifting her shirt a little so he could see it. Gen put
back on his glasses and looked closely at it. "I thought myself to be very
good at reading Chinese…since it is my native language, but I guess I was
wrong", Chun-li said. Master Gen raised an eyebrow. "That's because
its not a word…it's a symbol. But what it means, I do not know." Gen said.
Chun-li pulled her shirt back down and sighed. "Great…I have a tattoo and
don't even know what it means. For all I know it could say s-", Chun-li
stopped in mid sentence when she realized who she was talking to. She forgot
she was talking to her sensei and not one of her friends. She definitely didn't
want to get punished for having a filthy mouth. She never cursed around Master
Gen… and she certainly didn't want to start know. Gen raised a knowing eyebrow.
"For all you know it could say what?" he asked. Chun-li began to
stutter. "I…um…what I was…um…uh…well you see…oh never-mind" Chun-li
said all to quickly. She picked up the swords and turned towards the door.
Outside they saw Yun talking to Yang. They looked up and Yun's jaw dropped.
"Chun?!? Wh-what happened to you", he asked in disbelief. "It's
sort of a long story. One I'm sure Sifu wouldn't mind telling you later. But I
have something to tell you both. I'm going to have to leave for a while",
Chun-li said. "HUH", the twins said in unison. "B-But you just
got back", said Yang. "Yeah. And you haven't even gotten a chance to
eat the delicious birthday cake me and Yang fixed for you", said Yun.
Chun-li squinted at the mention of the twins cooking. She had tried their
cooking before…and to put it delicately…them and cooking didn't mix. She was
not in any hurry to taste the cake. "I'll try some when I get back",
said Chun-li.
"When will you be back…and where are you going?" asked Yun.
"Once again Master Gen will fill you in later. I have to go"; she
said kissing them on their foreheads. She waved at everyone then walked out the
dojo……………
