Summer Vacation Ch.1
By Jayk

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!! The alarm clock rang throughout the bedroom without seizing. WHAM! Then it stopped. "Oh man, Its too early to get up. I couldn't possibly goto school.", grumbled the young boy. He sat up in bed however and looked at his clock. "6 o'clock...unbelieveable." He promptly layed back down and closed his eyes. "I guess the last day of school was just a dream. I hate when I do that.", said Mel. He half opened his eyes and glanced up at his calander. "I wonder how many days ARE left?", he wondered. Looking at the calander made his eyes shoot wide open. The site was a date that was circled three times, surrounded with happy faces, squiggly lines, and the destinct words 'Last Day of School' imprinted over it. The real draw, however, was the 'X' that went through that date. "Yahoo!!! It wasn't a dream!", yelled as he jumped out of his bed and onto the floor totally energized. Landing softly, he struck a victory pose. After holding the pose for five seconds, he relaxed himself. "Now what do I do?" Grrrr. 'I guess its time for breakfast.', he thought. He changed out of his blue silk pajamas and put on a pair of blue sweats, a white t-shirt, and some slippers . He dashed out the room and down the hall. 'I wonder why I set the alarm clock? It must have been reflex. Oh well at least that means I can get my own breakfast today. The cook is sure to be off till 9.' He got to the stairs and slid down the railing. He took off in the direction of the kitchen as soon as he touched ground.

In the dojo outside the Masters home, Ken was in the middle of his morning kata. He had been up since five and just recently finished his meditation. He performed each move percision trying not to rush like he often did. 'One week', he thought to himself. 'Mel's been pretty excited. This maybe a summer to remeber', he continued.

In the kitchen, Mel was peering into the cabinets looking for some cereal to get his day started. "Let's see...hmm we got Lucky Charms, my dads fav, Frosted Flakes, those are tight if you add some sugar, Cheerios, Special K, definately moms, Ooo those waffle things, I love these." He grabbed the box from the cabinet and opened the box and proceded to eat straight from the box. "Without milk that is. MMM." He returned to his search for cereal. "Now what can I *crunch crunch* for breakfast *crunch crunch*", he said between handfuls. "Hmm...Alright! Post Raisin Bran! Super cool and made with Sunmaid Raisins, unlike Total." Mel grabbed the box of Raisin Bran and dropped the box he had already held. "Oops. The cook isn't gonna like this. I'll clean it up later." Mel got a large bowl and poured a third of the box into it. He set the box down on the counter and got out the milk. He poured a quart of milk in with the cereal and put it back in the fridge. He got a big serving spoon out and wedged it into his cereal bowl. Feeling accomplished he left the kitchen and headed for the T.V. room. Once in the room he plopped himself down on the cushy leather couch. Already with three spoonfulls of cereal in his mouth, he set the bowl down on the table. He picked up the remote. He swallowed the cereal. "There's got to be something good on now. If nothing more than SportsCenter.", he thought out loud. It was now ten till seven. He turned the T.V. on and turned straight to the Cartoon Network. He pick up his bowl of cereal and began shoveling once more. 'This is gonna be the best summer ever. In a week we goto Japan to see Uncle Ryu. I'm sure I'll win the tournament this year. Its gonna be so fun.'

Mel is excited. He can already feel this summer will be different. He just doesn't realize how different.
