Ryu was back in the dojo, going through one of the more complex katas that his late sensei had taught him. As he practiced, his mind was still troubled. Rose had wandered off to the backyard, Gen was inside the cottage's shrine, kneeling at the altar, where the pictures of Gouken and Dourai Xiang were placed, paying his repscts to his fallen friends. Miya was getting herself something to eat inside the cottage. Apparently, sparring with the old man had taken a lot out of her.
'How can I stop the Dark Hadou from destroying Chun Li?' Ryu thought as he continued to practice.
"Hello, anata."
Ryu stopped his kata and turned around. Chun Li was standing in the open shoji doorway. Her long hair was down, falling around her face. Several buttons from her pajama top were unbuttoned, giving Ryu a glimpse of her bra-encased cleavage. Her eyes held a seductive, yet...disturbing gaze in them as she slid closed the shoji door and began to advance on Ryu.
"Chun--" Ryu managed to get out before she pushed him to the wall and pressed her body against his. One hand was masaging his chest, while the other was on the side of his face. Without giving him a warning, she leaned inward and pressed her lips to his.
"Ryu..." Chun Li began as she kissed his jawline. "There's something I want to ask you."
"What is it?"
"Why did you take away my vengeance?"
Ryu thought that they went through this. Bison, knowing about his and Chun Li's past had pitted them against each other in a match to see who would face him in the final match. He was hoping that Chun Li would win, but in the end, Ryu had prevailed.
"I didn't," Ryu replied.
Chun Li looked up at him. "You did. The right to fight Bison was mine, not yours." Her voice had taken on a steely hardness. "You cheated me out of that right!"
Ryu tried to move, but Chun Li pushed him against the wall. Hard.
Then he saw her eyes. They were turning from brown to dark purple.
"Oh, crap," he muttered.
Chun Li had fallen under the influence of the Dark Hadou. Chun Li of the Awakened Psychotic Intent was released.
"Now...husband," Dark Chun Li was saying. "I will take my vengeance...on YOU!"
She threw a punch at Ryu, who rolled out of the way, just as her fist smashed into the wall, where his head was at moments earlier. But she was already upon him, attacking in full force, Ryu was hard-pressed against her attacks.
She then kicked at the side of his head, causing him to drop his guard. Then Dark Chun Li punched him numerous times in his chest, which was folowed by a drop kick that sent him through the shoji door and outside.
Ryu landed hard on his side. He rose to his feet as Dark Chun Li made a beeline for him.
Inside the cottage, both Miya and Gen heard the fight coming from outside. However, Miya reached the courtyard first, and saw her Dark Hadou-influenced sister-in-law attacking her brother. In an instant, the Muramasa-toting female was on Chun Li, holding her down, but not before Dark Chun Li had succeded in dislocating Ryu's right arm.
"Chun Li!" Miya yelled. "What the hell are you doing?!"
Dark Chun Li merely responded by grabbing Miya by her hair and flipping her over. Miya landed on her back, but immediately recovered.
"Miya, watch out!" Ryu warned as he winced in pain. "She's under the Dark Hadou!"
That distracted Miya as she turned to her brother. "What?!"
When Miya turned back around, Dark Chun Li was in her face. One hand grabbed Miya's throat in an inhuman grip. The former Shadowlaw doll gasped as the viselike grip of her insane sister-in-law began to force her to her knees.
"It's okay, Miya," Dark Chun Li was saying as she continued to choke the life out of Miya. "Don't be afraid."
She was then cut off by a hard kick to her back, forcing her to let go of Miya. As Miya was bent over, choking and coughing, her lungs taking in as much air as possible, Gen was there to help her to her feet.
"Go and see after your brother," Gen said. "I will handle this."
Dark Chun Li was already back on her feet. She faced off against the elderly Chinese man. "Don't make me kill you, Master," she warned, pronouncing the last word with sarcasm.
Gen calmly assumed his crane stance. "You can try. The flaw of power is arrogance."
Dark Chun Li went into her fighting stance. "You risk your neck to stop them from getting the justice they so rightly deserve. That is the flaw of compassion."
She then leapt at Gen and attacked with a flurry of punches and kicks, all of which Gen blocked and parried with general ease.
Gen, however, faced the same dillema as Ryu. He knew that Chun Li had fallen to the seduction of the Dark Hadou, but could not bring himself to hurt her. All he could do was strike with non-lethal strikes and blows.
While the battle was going on, Rose was
at the waterfall when she heard the sounds of the battle coming from the
dojo. 'Chun Li has fallen into the Dark Hadou,' she thought as she rushed
up the pathway and towards the courtyard.

As Gen and Dark Chun Li fought in a full-blown
Kung Fu match, Miya tended to Ryu.
"Are you okay?" Miya asked.
Ryu nodded. "I'll live. You're gonna have to help me out here, Miya."
Miya nodded as she grabbed Ryu's shoulders with both hands. Then she shoved as hard as she could. A sickening POP was heard as Ryu's joint was snapped back into its socket. The Japanese Ansatsuken master clenched his teeth and grunted in pain as his sister relocated his arm. Ryu blocked out the pain as he saw that Dark Chun Li was forcing Gen back. One well-alimed kick to the chest forced Gen to the courtyard wall.
While Gen was stunned from the force of the blow, Dark Chun Li raised her hands above her head, summoning the combined ki of hers and that of the Dark Hadou. "Ashura..."
However, Ryu made the save as he tackled Gen to the ground, knocking them both out of the way.
Dark Chun Li thrusted her hands forward. "KIKOUSHOU!"
When the smoke cleared, there was a perfect hole the size of the dojo's shoji doorway in the courtyard wall. Gen was still on the ground, looking at the carnage that was the result of his pupil's super technique.
Ryu, however was nowhere to be seen.
Then, he appeared, right above Dark Chun Li, foot outstretched in a perfect Temma Gou Zanku. Dark Chun Li took the blow on her face, drawing blood from her lip and making her retreat to a safe distance.
Dark Chun Li and Ryu looked at each other in a Mexican standoff. The dark martial artist's hand went to her bottom lip, where Ryu had busted it open.
"You hit me..." she said softly. Her face then twisted into a mask of pure rage. "You BASTARD!! How could you hit me?! I'm your wife!"
"You're not her," Ryu replied. "Release my wife...now."
Dark Chun Li leapt in the air, foot extended in a leaping kick....
Ryu prepared to execute his Dragon Punch...
"Soul Spark!"
A glowing orb of purple energy smashed into the small of Dark Chun Li's back, sending the Chinese woman to the ground. Dark Chun Li performed a recovery roll, turned and faced the newcomer.
Rose was standing behind her, her scarf in one hand. Before Dark Chun Li could do anything, Rose lashed out with her scarf, wrapping Dark Chun Li's arms and torso in a Soul Hold. The dark warrior struggled to free herself, but to no avail. Rose's mystic Soul Power held her in place. The fortuneteller then somersaulted until she was hovering above Dark Chun Li. Placing her hands on both sides of the Chinese woman's face, Rose began to chant an incantation as her hands began to glow.
Dark Chun Li screamed as she sank to her knees, feeling the effects of Rose's power over her. Then she fell over.
Ryu was there first. He checked for a pulse. She was still alive. Even better, her ki was back to normal. Ignoring the pain in his shoulder, he picked her up and carried her to the house.
Later on, as Miya tended to Ryu's shoulder, Gen entered the bedroom where Ryu watched over Chun Li, followed by Rose. Without looking at Gen, Ryu deadpanned, "It's my fault, Master."
"How?" Gen asked.
"When she was here as an exchange student," Ryu began, as if he was speaking like this was the worst moment of his life, "I taught her how to manipulate her ki using Ansatsuken-based techniques. I didn't know it would come to this. I've failed her, Master Gen."
"It's not your fault, Ryu," Gen replied as he placed one hand on Ryu's shoulder. "If it's anyone's fault, it should be mine. It wasn't your techniques that seduced Chun Li into the Dark Hadou. It was the fact that Chun Li herself knows Ansatsuken."
Ryu turned to Gen, as did Miya. "What?" both siblings said at the same time.
"There are two styles of Ansatsuken: one that Gotetsu taught both Akuma and Gouken, and later on to you and Ken, and a Chinese version, to which I am a master of. I took Chun Li on as my student when she was a child, and aside from Kung Fu and Kempo, I taught her Chinese Ansatsuken. She was my greatest pupil, and seeing as how no one was worthy enough to learn the secrets of Ansatsuken from me, Chun Li had far more potential in the martial arts than any of my pupils."
Gen sighed. "Then Dourai was killed at the hands of Bison and that set her down the path of becoming an officer of the law, like her father. When her father was killed, it had set off her own Dark Hadou, but it laid dormant for several years. When then Street Fighter tournament came, you had to fight her for the right to face Bison in the final match. Eventhough Chun Li loves you dearly, Ryu, she still feels that the fight to kill Bison was hers, not yours."
"She told me as much before she attacked me," Ryu replied. "I didn't realize that she kept it hidden all this time."
"But I also know why you did it," Gen intervened. "You did it to protect her from herself, not to mention the fact that she could have been seriously hurt or worse..."
"Because Ryu knew the effects of revenge first-hand in a most extreme way," Rose interjected. "Miya was lucky, but Ryu almost lost everything when he fought against Akuma a year ago."
"How?" Miya asked, now interested.
"Akuma performed the Instant Hell Murder on me," Ryu said, "and I survived. He pointed to Gen. "Gen also survived the move when he fought Akuma. However, Gen had a deathwish at the time and Akuma saw no desire to kill him, because at the time, he was ill. Without the final blow - the fifteenth, straight through the heart - the other fourteen strikes are worthless."
"However, when Ryu defeated Akuma, his own Dark Hadou was unleashed," Rose said. "He unleashed the Dark Hadou by accident when he fought and scarred Sagat in the first tournament. Ryu himself nearly lost his humanity, but a Indian Yoga master by the name of Dhalsim, as well as myself, helped him control it, to allow Ryu to use its dark energies without losing his humanity."
"So what are we going to do about Chun Li?" Miya asked.
"I'll watch over her," Gen said. "Ryu, you and Miya need to rest, after all what you two have been through. In the morning, I will tell her the truth."
However, Ryu still wasn't convinced. And
he promised to lock himself in the study until he could find a solution.
