-Ryu and Chun Li's Home, near Osaka, Japan-
Osaka, late at night. A taxi pulled up to the front gates of the Ansatsuken Dojo. The passenger door opened and out stepped a man. He was Japanese, standing nearly six feet tall, muscular with a tanned complexion. He was wearing a simple white T-shirt, a pair of denim pants and a pair of shoes. He had some stubble, due to the fact that he forgot his shaving razor.
The two rear doors opened and a young woman in her late teens came out, followed by a man, also in his late teens. The woman was Japanese, with short brown hair. She was wearing a dark blue T-shirt, a pair of shorts and a pair of sandals.
The other teen was half-Japanese, half-Brazilian. Like the man, he was tanned, but not as muscular like the older man. A small patch of dreadlocks adorned his head. He was wearing a sleevless T-shirt with the words 'TITANIC 1912 SWIM TEAM' on the front, (note: I got that shirt) a pair of shorts and a pair of worn tennis shoes.
Ryu Hoshi paid the cab driver as his pupil, Sakura Kasugano, and Ken's student, Sean Matsuda, gathered their belongings, which consists of Ryu's usual duffel bag, and Sakura and Sean's sports bags.
Two years had passed since the fiasco in Hawaii. Since then, Ryu and Chun Li had returned to Japan. It was there that Ryu--on a visit to Tokyo--had ran into Sakura, who was just finishing her last year at Tamagawa-Minawi High School, and had accepted a athletics scholarship to Osaka-Fujita University. Sakura has asked Ryu to train her in Ansatsuken, and this time, Ryu agreed.
At the same time, back in America, his rival Ken Masters had picked up a student of his own: Sean Matsuda. Sean was in Japan for the summer, training under Ryu. Both Ansatsuken apprentices showed promise in their martial arts, something that both Ryu and Ken approved on.
Ryu and his two charges were returning to Osaka from a week-long training mission in the mountains of Hokkaido. And for Ryu, it was good timing, on his part.
Tomorrow was his wedding anniversary to Chun Li.
Sakura stretched. "Man, I am SO glad to be back home."
Sean nodded. "Yeah. That training wa something else." He turned to Ryu. "Sempai, how can you manage in the wilderness like that?"
Ryu shrugged his shoulders. "I used to travel a lot. It becomes second nature. What time is it?"
Sakura looked at her watch. "It's almost 1:30 a.m."
"The two of you have the tomorrow off to relax," Ryu ordered.
Relieved at their sensei's order, Sean and Sakura raced into the house.
He then noticed the small blue Toyota pickup truck nearby. 'Hmm...looks like Chun is home.'
Inside the master bedroom, A scantly clad Chun Li Xiang was getting ready for bed after a long day of work in Interpol. Wearing nothing but a white dress shirt that once beloned to Ryu, several buttons undone, and a pair of underwear, she was in the process of brushing out her damp hair when her husband walked in.
Seeing that Chun Li didn't notice him entering the room, Ryu just watched her from his place near the door. They had known each other through their respective masters and had trained together as well. It was after the Second World Warrior Tournament nearly three years earlier that they had fallen for each other. Hard.
Being married had brought many more challenges for Ryu. The main challenge was that he couldn't travel anymore, but he didn't mind. Chun Li, on the other hand had given up field work following Shadowlaw's destruction and had accepted a job at Interpol's Osaka office working as a field analyst.
Of course, that didn't stop neither person from competing in every challenge and tournament that they can participate in. That also includes the underground figting tournaments.
Ryu continued to watch her as she continued to brush out her hair. There was something about her that made her so irresistable. In a way she was innocent...and that the same time she hold her own with the best of the best, including himself.
He decided to make her presence known. Walking behind her, he got close enough to reach out and gently touched her shoulder.
Chun Li's first reaction was to grab whoever was touching her and flip him on their back. But she knew who it was. She'd recognise that touch anywhere. She turned around, and found herself face-to-face with her husband.
"Hey," he said.
"Hi," she whispered back.
She flung her arms around him, holding him in a tight embrace, smothering his face in small kisses. Laughing, he spun her around as she kissed him, long and deep.
When the kiss was broken Ryu looked at his wife. "Next time, you should come along on a training mission next time."
"So I can kick your ass?" Chun Li smirked.
"I believe that I have the better win record," Ryu replied midly.
Chun Li attempted to punch him in the arm, but Ryu swatted her hand away. "You'd better be lucky that I missed you all this week. Otherwise I'd haul your butt into the dojo." She smile sweetly at him. "I am glad you're back though. I really missed you."
"So did I," Ryu replied. "And I came back just in time to celebrate out wedding anniversary."
The Chinese woman's eyes were shining. "You remembered. I'm surprised that you did."
"So you doubted me?"
Chun Li nodded. "For a moment, I did. Now I know better."
The next morning...
"So what have you got planned for today?" Ken Masters's voice asked over the phone.
"I have no idea," Ryu (now with a clean-shaven face) replied. "But I did buy her a gift when I was in Hokkaido, though."
"I have an idea. You can take her out to dinner. Eliza's here with me in Japan, se can meet up and go to a restaurant together. Afterwards we can check out the festival."
"Sounds good. What time?"
"About seven. Will that work?"
"Perfect. Bye." Ryu hangs up the phone, just as Chun Li walked into the room.
"So what are we doing for tonight?" she asked.
"We are going to dinner with Ken and Eliza later on tonight," Ryu replied. "I got something for you." He pulled out a long jeweler's box and presented it to his wife. "Happy anniversary, Chun Li."
Chun Li took the box and opened it. She gasped at what was inside. It was a small crystal pendant, the kind you have to pay an arm and a leg for. Thankfully, Ken had a connection with one of the jewelers in Hokkaido, so Ryu was able to get a discount on the item. She knew that Ryu had a lot of money stashed away (not filthy rich like Ken, but enough to live off on comfortably).
"It's beautiful," she cooed.
Ryu took it and placed the necklace around her neck. She smiled and looked at her reflection in the mirror, pleased at the gift that he gave to her. Ryu moved behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
Chun Li looked at her husband in the reflection. "But I didn't get you anything."
Ryu shook his head. "You're with me. That's all that matters. Besides, I don't mind."
