Untitled Ch. 3

------------
"Cody?"
Cautiously, Chun Li entered the shadowy room at the back of the prison. She
had seen men in solitary confinement before. Such men had gone crazy in the
cargo like compartments.
She knew he was in there somewhere, but her eyes had trouble adjusting to
the darkness that seemed to surround the ruin. She wouldn't let that make her
careless though. Cody was probably well adjusted to the dark. He was a
formidable predator. Extremely powerful. That was why he had been locked up
this way, wasn't it?
She moved a little further into the room, and that's when she saw him. He
was sitting as if he was on a throne, with his arms stretched on either side,
like a statue. But then she saw the allusion--he was just sitting on a barrel,
and that his arms were outstretched because he was held by support panels. She
looked down to see that his feet were shackled to the floor. Yet he still
managed to look imperial, even as quiet and restless as he was now. He kept his
face in the shadow.
She knew that Cody heard her come in. But he still remained immobile, and
impassive.
"I came to ask you some questions about your friend." She
regretted the words as soon as they came out. There was no reaction for several
long seconds. Then he raised his head a little.
"Why?"
"I thought you might know something about a case I'm working on."
He turned into a statue again, unmoving.
"Don't you want to know who I'm referring to?"
Evidently he didn't. Just as she reached the door he spoke.
"Wait." Chun Li turned back. "I do."
"Ok." She came back to where he sat.
"You want to ask mesomething, but you're afraid."
Master of the understatement, she retorted, "No s***. I've heard about
you. But I am also a warrior. Don't be fazed by my appearance."
"Don't worry. I don't think I'd try to hurt a world warrior. Don't
beleive me?"
"I beleive you'd do anything to escape again." His means of escape
were impressive. Horrifying, but impressive. He had killed the guards.
"Your friend, Guy, he uh..."
"Guy," He said, laughing to himself. "There's a name I
haven't heard in a while." He sounded perfectly sensible, but she knew she
couldn't trust him. Very cautiously she came toward him again.
"They're willing to suspend a few years of your jail time, if you cooperate
with this case..." She knew by the way he looked at her, that he had a
million come-backs for such a stupid suggestion, asked of a man tied up in the
confinement of a prison.
