Untitled Ch. 2

Thailand (Prisonward)

-----------

In all of his fights there had been weapons. Spears, hooks, blades. Even the faster and more modern types, like guns. He still liked knives thoguh. Through some strange twist of fate, there was allways one within his reach. Ever since he was 9.

He liked the power that it gave, the sense of authority it held against the scumbags he had encountered. What liked most about them, was the way a knife felt like a natural extension of the arm. After he had gotten used to a certain knife, the feel of the handle, the point of the blade, he didn't have to think about how to use it anymore, no more than he had to think about breathing.

Cody had a gift for finding the best way to use a weapon. For using the right amount of pressure to make the weapon do exactly what he wanted. He could kill or just b*tch. It was his decision. The knife was just another part of him, one more extension of the killing machine Cody had become.

Judging from his past, Cody was neither exceptionally good nor bad. He always seemed a rather tricky character. Rather deceptive in his ways.

Phone Conversation continues...

"Tell me again, why are we complying with these, uh, new standards?"

"For the greater good, Li. Can't spend your whole life in revenge you know..."

"Spare me the lecture. Who's the latest victim?"

"A local sudent from Japan. Name's Kairi."

"Well, what's his story?"

"The kid just disapeared off the face of the earth. Just like the others."

"Others?"

"Yup. Japan has been a recent hot spot for disapearing kids. Another girl named Sakura just disapeared off the coast."

"Sakura? I know that name..."

"Yeah, she's a young martial artist. They all are..."

Japan (School of Bushunryyu)

Guile knocked on the door. He saw Hokuto lift up on her elbow, raise, and then walk towards the door. Then his face changed, he wasn't looking at the girl anymore. He was looking at the shell of her former self.

"I thought we'd go over your case before tommorow, ma'am." Guile explained through the door.

"Sure, come in," she said as she opned the door wider.

Chun Li and Guile walked in leaving the door open, and sat down in the room.

"There is a small farm about twenty miles west of here," She started. "The residents reported several shouts of violence."

"You've obviously have been doing a little bit of investigating yourself, haven't you?" Chun li first noticed.

"Well, he is my brother..."

"We understand," Guile butted in, and giving Chun Li bitter stare for implying obstruction of evidence.

Hokuto stammered on, "I just thought you would like to talk to those farmers, before heading off to the police daprtment. I'm sorry..."

"No problem," Chun Li added, regretting her acusations. "Actually, that would be useful. But first, we'd like to talk with your school teacher, perhaps he would explain Kairi's status before his departure."

"Good idea," Guile intruded. "While we're at it, we should speak with all of the martial arts schools in this area."

Hokuto leaned forward to read the file in front of her. Impulsively, Guile placed his hand lightly over the documents. Hokuto moved back in embarrassment, then walked over and kneeled by the edge of his chair, facing the detective.

"You don't beleive..." She inisisted, obviously depressed by files she had read.

"Of course we do!"

Ashamedly, she looked away from two. How could she accuse someone who had been sent to help her find her missing brother? Survival instinct: it could be anyone. Fierce pride rose within in her now, as she seemingly discovered their alerior motives. "Then why do you suspect brother Guy?"
