Street Fighter NYC Part 1
By Dan
"Man, I'll tell you something, Ryu, the ladies here are gorgeous!",
Ken said with enthusiasm. He eyed one girl with blonde hair and winked. She
giggled and waved appropriately. "Oh yeah, I could get used to
this.", Ken said nudging Ryu. Ryu nodded. "Yeah, the girls here are
of exquisite beauty." Ken looked wearily at his friend (and occasional
foe). "Are you going to talk like that ALL the time? You know, this IS New
York, not, um...Michigan, or something."
"I try to speak appropriately at all times, not to mention, do my own
schoolwork."
"Hey hey hey, I paid you well, right? Besides, I do my own
schoolwork..." Ryu looked at Ken with a eyebrow raised. "...Every so
often..."

As the two got to their respective classes, Ryu walked down the hall to his
first period class: English. "*Here we are...Room 237.*" Ryu opened
up the door. He noticed that there weren't many kids in the room, only about
twelve, even though there was at least thirty chairs. The teacher got up from
her desk and smiled at Ryu. "Hi, I'm Ms. Devereaux, your english
teacher." Ryu gulped slightly. The woman was downright pretty. She had a
red dress on, which complimented her auburn hair, and she wore glasses, but Ryu
didn't mind that. "Ryu? Take your seat, please?"
"Oh...oh, yeah. Sure." As Ryu sat down, he heard a familiar voice
made itself known. "Yo, teach! It looks like that Ryu kid's got a crush on
you! For real!" Ryu turned around to the back of the class to see if it
was who he thought it was. It was. Dan Hibiki was in the back of the classroom.
But he looked different from last year. "*He used to dress like Ken, just
with all-pink.*", Ryu thought. "*NOW look at him.*" Dan was
wearing pink Timberland boots with the shoelaces untied, dark blue (and very baggy)
Fubu jeans, a pink Tommy Hilfiger sweater with a matching pink Kanji cap with
the NY Yankees symbols in Japanese, and a long, dangling chain with some sort
of Tengu mask at the bottom. "Yo, Ryu! What's goin' on, son? I ain't
seen't yo' *ss since last semester, g.", Dan said with his foot on the
desk he was sitting on. Every one of the ten other kids in the class were
chuckling. "Man, take a look at Marshall Mathers over there.", one
kid said chortling. Dan ignored them and moved his chair up to Ryu's. "Gee,
Dan, when did you become a thug?", Ryu asked, still somewhat not
understnding Dan's significant change.
"When? I always was an o.g. (original gangster), playa'! Straight
outta' Harlem, for scheazy, off the heazy!", Dan said out loud. Now the
class was in full-tilt laughter. The teacher obviously had quite enough of
Dan's antics. "Alright, Dan. Settle down. I really don't want to send you
to the dean on your second day of the new semester."
"Word? You must love me then!", Dan said twirling his fingers
around his chain. The class laughed some more. "Yo Dan! She wants to see
you in a thong, bro!", one guy said. Dan looked at the teacher, who was
now beginning to get red with anger. "Ha!", Dan said pointing to the
teacher, "It's true! Look how red her face is! She does want to see me in
a thong-th-thong thong thong!"
That was when Dan started singing... "Oooh that dress so scandalous,
and you know another n**** couldn't handle it, shaking that thang like who's
the... with the look in your eyes so devilsh..." Dan couldn't finish his
off-key version of Sisqo, because the teacher with a finger pointed at the door
told him to "GET OUT!" Dan got up and bowed, much to the hilarious
laughter of the class. "Don't worry ya'll, I'll be back! This is anotha'
example of the man's prejudice, yo!", Dan said walking out of the
classroom. "That's alright though. I'll be back, watch and see, Miz
Devereaux. I'm the real deal, and she can't handle me! I'm a o.g., for real!
G-Code whoadie, g-code whoadie..." Dan sang as he jump-skipped down the hall.
"*Oh boy*", Ryu thought. It'll be a long term if Dan's still in his
class all semester. He then looked over at a girl at the far end of the
classroom with who was reading intently from "Romeo and Juliet". She
had her hair tied in a two buns on each side of her head, brown eyes, and
definitely didn't need makeup to look pretty, even though she wore a little bit
of mascara and lip gloss. Ryu didn't realize it, but he was staring at her. She
was wearing blue Nike AirMAX sneakers (the one everybody and their mother has
except the writer, but that's a DIFFERENT story), blue adidas track pants that
were seemingly painted on her, with a matching top and jacket as well.
"*Whoa. Now THAT'S, a gorgeous girl.*", Ryu said smiling. "*I
wonder what her name is...*"
Once again, without realizing it, Ryu made an effort to get up and walk over
to this heavenly angel's seat and make his presence known. "Hey, um, hi.
My name's Ryu, and-"
"Chun-Li. What's up.", She said nonchalantly. She continued
reading her book. Ryu looked at the book, then spoke softly, so as to not
arouse the teacher's wrath. "Romeo and Juliet. Good book."
"Yeah, you should read it sometime.", Chun-Li said, looking at Ryu
momentarily, then returning to her book. After Ryu stayed there, drinking in
the sight of this...Chun-Li, she finally put her book down and turned to him.
"You came her to say something, correct?" Ryu was startled.
"Huh? Oh! Yeah, I just wanted to know, if maybe... uh, we could go to see
a movie...or something l-l-like that, or a movie, y'know, like, um, that."
"Hm. You aren't gonna' try anything, are you? That Dan guy tried to set
something up with me and I had to shoot him down."
"*Too bad for Dan*", Ryu said to himself. "Don't worry, I
won't be stupid or anything. I just want to hang out, do homework, whatever you
want to do." Chun-Li smiled. "Y'know, "Keeping the Faith"
is out, and I haven't seen it. We could go see that-um, if you want to."
"Yeah! Um yeah, sure, if that's what you want to see.", Ryu said.
Chun-Li took out a pen. "Here's my number, then. Gimme' yours, too. Don't
go telling your friends that you're doing anything with me just 'cause you've
got my number. I'm not easy, y'know." Ryu let out a sigh of relief.
"Whew, that's reassuring. Neither am I." chun-Li laughed softly.
"Good one."
Both didn't notice at first, but the teacher was now directly over them.
"Um, excuse me you two? There IS a class going on, you know." Ryu
apologized and moved back over to his seat. Ms. Devereaux began writing on the
blackboard again. Ryu looked over to Chun-Li and noticed she was looking at
HIM. She blushed slightly, smiled and returned to her book. "*Maybe this
year won't be so bad after all*", Ryu thought with a smile on his face and
a crush in his heart.
