Okay, for those of you unfamiliar with King Of Fighters, here's a brief summary of the characters featured in this fic...
Kyo Kusanagi: central character in series from KOF 94-98
Iori Yagami: Kyo's eternal rival (family feud that goes back centuries)
Yuki Kushinada: Kyo's girlfriend
Shingo Yabuki: Kyo's apprentice
Athena Asamiya: popular singer who also has psychic powers
Sie Kensou: companion to Athena
Mai Shiranui: ninja girl who's in love with Andy Bogard, but he has yet to respond to her affections
Joe Higashi: friend to Andy and his brother, Terry Bogard

In a large park somewhere, many fighters had gathered to socialize. Considering the people in the group. It was interesting to note that some of these people could get along without fighting each other…
(on one side of the park)
MAI: (holding Andy’s arm) So, Jessica, how long have you and Cody been married?
JESSICA: Three years.
MAI: That’s great! (smiles sweetly at Andy) So, Andy, when-?
JOE: (standing nearby) There she goes again…
(at the food table)
KYO: (picking up some salad lettuce with tongs) Here, Yuki…
YUKI: (smiling) Thanks. You know…(picks up piece of fried chicken) This was a great idea. Who decided to hold an event to gather all the fighters around the world?
KYO: (looks around the crowd, then points) That blond guy there. He’s loaded, so he’s paying for all of this.
YUKI: It’s amazing what people will spend their money on…
KYO: (shrugs) Hey, if you got the money…
SHINGO: (running at top speed from a 100-ft distance) Kusanagi-san!
(Kyo and Yuki look up in surprise at the sound of high pitched yelling. Shingo ends up running Kyo over, unable to stop his momentum.)
KYO: (yells since he just got knocked down) Shingo, what the h*ll are you doing?
SHINGO: (gets to his feet) Gomenasai, Kusanagi-san. I just wanted you to know that Yagami-san is here, too. He might even try to kill you! And-
KYO: (interrupts) Don’t worry. Wherever I go, he goes. We all know this by now. (grins) Where is he, anyway?
(Shingo leads Kyo and Yuki to a place rather far from the food table and are surprised to see Athena)
ATHENA: What song can you play that I can sing…hmmm…
IORI: (grumbles as he strums his guitar) This isn’t Disney’s Sing-Along…
ATHENA: Oh, come on, Yagami-kun…just play a song and I’ll sing.
IORI: To whom? There’s no one here! (looks up and smiles slightly) Heh.
ATHENA: (looks up) Kyo-chan! Shingo-chan! Yuki-chan! Quick, help me pick a song to sing. Yagami-kun’s going to play his guitar while I sing.
IORI: I never said that I was-
KYO: (laughs) Hey, it’s great that you do something else besides fight me all the time.
(Shingo, Yuki, and Kyo see someone in the distance hiding behind a tree. The someone is Kensou, who’s watching Athena, yet uncomfortable to be near Iori.)
KYO: (sweatdrops) Although…scaring people is what you do best…
DAN: (appears out of nowhere with a megaphone which he is yelling into) Everyone, fighters and all, gather round! In this little corner, we’ll be featuring the playing talent of Iori Yagami, and the vocal stylings of Athena Asamiya. Yay! Yay! Yay!
IORI: (glares) Quiet before I kill you.
KYO: Too late now…(jabs his thumb at all the people that started gathering around)
(silence. Dead silence. Crickets chirping silence. Tumbleweeds rolling silence. You get the idea…)
DEE JAY: Where’s the music, mon? CAMMY: I thought we were going to hear some music… YUN: What is this? I thought we’re gonna hear something!
(angry chi of crowd begins to form)
ATHENA: Just a minute…(whispers a song into Iori’s ear, ignoring Kensou’s ‘Don’t get to close to him’ looks)
IORI: (rolls his eyes, nods, then begins to play a melody)
ATHENA: (sings) ‘I feel like I’ve been locked up tight for a century of lonely nights…Waiting for someone to release me…You’re licking your lips and blowing kisses my way but that don’t mean I’m gonna give it away. Baby. Baby. Baby...Ooh. My body is saying let’s go...Ooh. But my heart is saying no.’ (crowds sing along) ‘If you wanna be with me, baby there’s a price to pay-
DAN: (yelling in megaphone) ‘I’m a genie in a bottle! You gotta rub me the right way!’
(Iori glares at Dan while Athena laughs)
KYO: (laughs) Dan, try working on those vocals, all right?
DAN: (continuing) ‘You gotta make a big impression!’
(Iori stops playing his guitar and kicks Dan aside)
ATHENA: (shaking her head) Yagami-kun, what a terrible thing to do…
GEN: (yelling from the other side of the park) Everyone! Cream cheese wontons are here! Get your appetizer before it vanishes!
(crowd begins running back to food table, nearly running over Ryu who is practicing his forms)
KYO: Ryu-san, you okay?
RYU: (dusting himself off) Yes, I believe so. Overcoming obstacles has always been part of my training…
KYO: (sweatdrop forms, and he claps Ryu’s back) Well, let’s go check out the table, okay? I hear Gen makes some great food!
