Deadly Assignment Introduction

The streets were packed full of people in the city centre. People everywhere
carrying bags and boxes full of clothes and other gifts. Among the hustle and
bustle in the streets stood two young women, on their vacation before being set
their next assignments - Chun Li, the young Chinese detective working for
Interpole and Cammy, the British agent in service for MI-6. They stood
examining the contents of a shop display with great excitement, enjoying the
short time they had allocated before returning to a very big project.
Chun Li – “Oh it’s beautiful! But it’s very expensive…perhaps when we come
back from our next mission it will be in a sale!”
Cammy – “But it might be gone altogether then! By the sounds of it, we both
have something really big coming up and it could be a long time before we get
the chance to come back”
They both sighed with indecision, and eyed the display keenly.
Chun Li – “Y’know, I think we’ll be working together Cammy”
Cammy – “Oh I hope so that would be great…a little bird told me that
somebody’s discovered Bison’s hideout”
Chun Li – “Yes, I was involved but I think there’s more to it than simply
going over there and blowing it up to bits”
Cammy – “Well I guess they’d want to make sure Bison was gone for good”
The girls finally gave in and started to walk away from the shop window, the
dress they spied was truly pretty but it was very likely that there would be
one just as nice the next time they passed the same store. Besides they had
already picked up a good few bargains already, Cammy struggled with all the bags
and boxes, were as Chun Li had been much more decisive in what she brought. Her
dear friend had the tendency to be slightly reckless once she had been paid.
Chun Li – “I don’t know Cammy, Guile isn’t giving an awful lot away.
Everyone knows he wants to handle everything himself but he’s not allowed to
and it’s true that if it hadn’t been for Interpole’s help, they would not have
discovered Shadowloo HQ”
Cammy – “I need a brake, you wanna grab a coffee?”
Chun Li smiled at her young vibrant friend and nodded. Chun Li was
particularly proud of Cammy, she was so lively after all she had been through –
she had had her courage knocked away from her before but she stood against the
shadows, unafraid….stood against the Shadows…and the power of Bison. Chun Li had
to hand it to her friend, Cammy was something really special.
Cammy – “Hellooo, Earth to Chun – do-you-read-me, over?”
Chun Li snapped out of her trance like look and her broken thoughts and followed
the special agent into a cafe. They found a place to sit down even though the
place was fairly busy and they both watched the handful of waitresses pass back
and forth in such a hurry. Chun Li’s world was running so much slower!
Cammy – “You want something to eat?”
Chun Li – “No thanks, not hungry”
As soon as Chun Li’s words were spoken a rushed waitress appeared before the
table. Her brown matted hair was a mess, but she didn’t seem awfully bothered.
Waitress – “Can I get you anything?”
Cammy – “Ummm two coffees and a cheese filled jacket potato please!”
The waitress immediately scribbled down the orders and scooted off into the
kitchens, nearly crashing into another waitress carrying platefuls of food.
Chun Li – “I don’t understand a word these people say!”
Cammy – “Manchester is full of people with incredibly strong accents. But
it’s different wherever you go, for example, it’s very different again in
Scotland and Ireland and even in Wales and Cornwall”
Chun Li – “Cornwall?” she said intrigued
The waitress suddenly appeared from nowhere carrying the mugs and Cammy’s
ordered food on a tray but disappeared again before they could even say thank
you.
Cammy – “you never heard of it? It’s very small, nothing to do there but has
some lovely sights to see”
Chun Li ran a finger over the rim of her coffee mug deep in thought.
Cammy – “Hey, you ok? Worried about your assignment? I’m sure it’ll be ok”
she grinned at her Chinese pal. “We ARE the BEST after all”
The two friends smiled at each other and started to laugh but still the
importance of their missions sparked anxiety within them…Neither of them
realised it was going to be one of the greatest tests of their lives…
