Because it is my duty, my upbringing, I am nothing without the fight.
Even so you had time for friends, love and tranquility of peace.
That was another life. My new one is only to fight.

Ryu's eyes shot open at that moment.

Darkness was all his eyes saw, nothing but the pitch-dark color.
Ryu's eyes quickly refocused back to their normal state, and he was granted vision once more.

Nothing, Nothing was wrong, nothing at all.

Ryu folded out of his futon and stood up, wiping the sweat off his smoldered brow.

Ryu took note of his calendar hanging on the wall of the hotel room, "February 10,2000" it read.

"My Elite admission fight begins today" Ryu spoke to himself.
Ryu had been fighting in The Grid for only a month and he was already chosen to be an eligible elite, most would think of this as odd as it could be, No one is good enough to rise that quickly.

Turning to the window, Ryu saw that it was the beginning of daybreak.
'Best to get ready now' Ryu's mind spoke. After a glass of water, Ryu then took a shower then followed closely by putting on his clothes.

Hefting his duffel bag on his shoulder he exited the room.

"How much sooner till he gets here d*mmit!!!" screamed a very agitated Riana. Asuka and Cyraqs then quickly edged away from their ticked off friend; The 3 had been in the Pre-commission fight room for nearly an hour, waiting on their next eligible elite to come.


"Maybe he's caught up in traffic" Cyraqs suggested.
"Or chickened out" added Riana.
Asuka quickly went up for the late person's defense. "Hey guys come on now. What would give you the idea the guys not gonna show?". "The fact that we've been waiting in this stupid room for an hour" Riana said dead panly.

25 minutes later, our guest finally arrives!

"Took you long enough" Asuka said angrily.

"My apologies" said a bowing Ryu "I was caught up in something"

Cyraqs put his arm around Ryu and reassured him "Hey its OK man. Accidents happen".

Riana, who was still peeved, took Ryu by the hair and dragged him to the prep room. "Come on, let's get the initiation started" She ushered hurriedly.
